I have an integral larder fridge which works fine except that it has become too warm. The temperature control has no effect. Other than this the fridge looks as good as new (it is a couple of years old).
Could it be the thermostat? If so, is this something my husband can replace?
Any ideas would be very welcome.
Thank you,
Sandie

If your Zanussi ZX97/5W fridge keeps getting warm, there could be a few possible causes:
Thermostat malfunction: The thermostat controls the temperature inside the fridge. If it is malfunctioning, it may not be able to maintain the correct temperature, causing the fridge to get warm.
Dirty condenser coils: The condenser coils are responsible for removing heat from the fridge. If they are dirty, they will not be able to function properly, causing the fridge to get warm.
Door seal issue: If the door seal is damaged or not sealing properly, it can allow warm air to enter the fridge, causing the temperature to rise.
Fan motor issue: The fan motor is responsible for circulating the air inside the fridge. If it is not working properly, it may not be able to circulate the air, causing the temperature to rise.
Temperature control issue: If the temperature control is not set correctly, the fridge will not be able to maintain the correct temperature.
If the fridge part of your Zanussi ZX97/5SI fridge/freezer is no longer keeping cool, while the freezer part is still working fine, there could be a few possible causes:
Thermostat malfunction: The thermostat controls the temperature inside the fridge. If it is malfunctioning, it may not be able to maintain the correct temperature, causing the fridge to get warm.
Air circulation problem: If the air is not circulating properly inside the fridge, it may not be able to maintain the correct temperature. This could be caused by a dirty or blocked air vent, a malfunctioning fan motor, or a problem with the door seal.
Evaporator coils are iced up: The evaporator coils are responsible for removing heat from the fridge. If they become iced up, they will not be able to function properly, causing the fridge to get warm.
Compressor issue: The compressor is responsible for pumping refrigerant through the cooling system. If the compressor is not working properly, it may not be able to pump refrigerant through the system, causing the fridge to get warm.
A malfunctioning control board: The control board is responsible for managing the functions of the refrigerator, if it's malfunctioning it may cause the fridge not to maintain the correct temperature.
Hi, I'm Mark. Check the position of the two controls at the top of the unit inside the fresh food compartment. SET BOTH controls to the 12 o'clock position. Wait about a hour, then check temperatures. Then wait another hour and check temperatures again. Record the values on a piece of paper. When you do check fridge temperatures, do so quickly as the compartments become warm just a few seconds after the doors are opened. Please let me know what happens to the fresh food readings. Thanks, Best Regards, Mark
First thing to try is Powering off the FF at the mains supply and leaving it standing for 30 minutes. Make sure that you do not open any of the doors or touch any of the controls during this time. Then reconnect the power and wait for 30 to 60 minutes to see if the fault remains or is cured. Try defrosting the FF as despite common belief these units are not totally frost free. In side by sides if the freezer side is working OK and the fridge side is not working correctly it means that air ducting has iced up or the air vent from the freezing unit to the fridge compartment has stuck in the closed or partially closed position which causes the fridge to not be any where near as cool as it should be. If it is too cold then the vent is stuck in the open position and the fridge temperature will continue to fall and become the same as the freezer, thereby freezing the contents of the fridge compartment. It can also get stuck in another position so that if the temperature is adjusted on the front panel then nothing happens to the temperature in the fridge compartment. The vent, which is usually at the top of the fridge compartment on the side where it joins the freezer compartment, is controlled by a small sync motor and either the motor has become faulty, the control module is faulty or the vent is iced up. It can be come iced up by putting too many hot items in the fridge so the steam condenses and freezes the vent in position and then the motor cannot open or close it causing it and / or the control module to become faulty. Other times it is just old age that causes the motor and / or the control module to fail. If the sync motor and vent are working OK then there may be a fault with the fridge temperature sensor or main on board controller that will mean that the sensor or the controller will need replacing.
sounds like your auto defrost isn't working. my maytag does same thing. the cooling core in the freezer is probably iced up. when it becomes solid ice no air(or very little) can pass by, leading to too little cold air reaching the fridge. you can try to cycle the temp levers(usually doesn't work) you can manually defrost the freezer. pull the cover off the back(inside freezer) and use a blow dryer. not sure how much parts are for whirlpool. hopefully this is just a one time thing. there are tests you can find to check some of the parts.like the heat element for the defroster, just search for the tests.
please switch off your refrigerator for at least 8 hrs. than again switch it on. if your problem is not cured than it is sure that your refrigerator have the blower problem because for this reason only, the problem arrises ....... please visit your service authority...........have a nice day:-)
This is going to be a problem with either the thermostat control or the compressor relay from the freezer to frigde, either way, you will need to call a service tech.
