You have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when someone calls while you're already on the phone (or while your phone is unplugged). Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

Testimonial: "Since we don't use/subscribe to the phone service voice mail how else can we get that light to go out."

We do not subscribe to voice mail from AT&T. The problem still persists.

  • kakima Oct 14, 2013

Are you sure? As far as I can tell, the voicemail service is included in the AT&T package. What happens when you dial *99 from your phone?

  • geoff henderson Oct 14, 2013

Okay, the red light indicates the answering machine is on. If you hit the button that shuts off the answering machine the light goes out. How stupid of me. Thanks to all made suggestions.

The 29385 isn't an answering machine.
Consult the documentation for whatever answering machine you have on your phone line.
If you require further assistance, please add a comment to this question and specify the make and model of your answering machine.

Make sure the answering system is ON.
Press flash/answerer/call waiting button on the handset to enter answerer remote mode.
Press key [9] to enter Ring to Answer menu on handset.
Use the CALLER ID-VOLUME (up/down-arrow) button to choose 5 rings.

Call waiting caller id speakerphone 29385ge1 - nothing shows up on the display panel

Check to make sure the wall adapter to the phone is working, if yes! the problem is in the processor driver ic that drives the LCD. But I think it is more than likely your power adapter is bad, if you have a digital meter it easy to confirm or you know somebody can help.
