No picture, new lamp

I have a Samsung HLN4365W DLP projection TV since Jan 2005. When turned on, the Lamp LED (the middle LED on the front pannel) flashes for about 10 seconds then shuts off. All LEDs are off (nothing flashes). There is no picture on screen either, but the sound is OK. I can hear the fan noise and the color wheel spinning sound. I can see the lamp lights up from the back of the TV set. I have replaced with a new Lamp but did not solve the problem. Could you help please? Thanks

Thank you for the sugeested solution. I am not aware of such menu options to reset the hours. Since I cannot see any picture on screen, I cannot see the menu either, do you have specific steps for how to reset using the remote control or the buttons on the TV set?

    Thanks

Just put a new bulb in but after trying 3 times to fire up it cuts out with 3 lights blinking . The bulb I replaced it with is a "diamond", The supplier assured me it was the same as the original.

Did you reset the hours on the lamp with the menu options on your set? Sometimes, if you do not do that it can mess with the tv performance thinking that its over hours. It needs to be reset to 0 again...

No picture on a DLP when you can see the lamp is working is ALWAYS the DLP chip. BECAUSE you recently replaced the color wheel, i suspect that the LVDS/data cable to the light engine was not plugged in well and has come loose. I suggest checking and rechecking every cable and plug you can find.

Picture suddenly went out and the lamp and temp lights in front circle are blinking.

Hi,If your tv is between 2-4 yrs most likely it's time to replace the lamp.If you hear continuous clicking it could be the ballast which is the board that powers the lamp.If you hear buzzing it could be the color wheel, which is a spinning wheel that creates the color on your tv.God bless you!

Picture loses color on samsung HLN4365W

if the picture is still visible but lacking color, it is not the lamp. check the color wheel and make sure it is working. replacing the color wheel is a pretty easy task and can be performed by yourself without many problems. as a sidenote, older samsung dlp tvs seem to experience this problem quite often, although they usually sound like someone strangling a cat before the bearings go out..

partstore.com should carry your replacement for 100 USD or so, the part number is BP96-00250A.

before replacing it, make sure your old one isn't just stuck or not spinning at full rpm, if this is the case, you can usually remove it and clean the motor using electronic or contact cleaner that is safe for plastics.

to check everything out, you will need to remove the back panel of your tv, then power it up (keep kids, small animals, hands and such away from the back while powered up), take a look in front of the projection lamp and see if the wheel is turning. if not, a very good writeup is available here, this is the writeup i send my own customers to if they feel like attempting the repair themselves.

replacing the color wheel is actually not very hard at all, if you have ever worked on your own desktop pc (installed a new drive or upgraded it yourself) then you should be able to do this with limited difficulty.

hope this helps,
trin
