Authorized Repair Centers for Akai Flat Panel TV

My 1 year old Akai 32" flat panel suddenly lost its picture. There was a strong "electronic" odor and then the screen went blank.

When I tried to turn it back on, all I get is the blue AKAI flash screen, then the screen goes blank and back to standby.

I want to get it to a repair center authorized to do warranty repairs but can't find anything about Akai's authorized service centers. Do you know how I can locate one? Thank you.

I am very disppointed to have read the similiar problems stated on this website. There is no answer on their technical support line and no response to my emails to them.

First try to reattch all coneection to your televison.
then open the back side cover of your tv then reattch all connectiuon there .
Also clean dust from all circuit.

At 7 years old your TV needs to be replaced. To repair a TV this old would cost as much as a new one and not give you as good a picture. If you can't afford a new TV look at refurbished models.

in power outlet, RC Jack, cable and connectors, the TV might need service.

Display distortion can be caused by close proximity of other electronic devices which interfere with broadcast signals. Try moving other electronics farther away. More details and tips can be found in the owner's manual.

Have a service center look at the unit - most likely the parts are not available to repair the television - call 800-726-4405 and request an exchange - but you will need a workorder from the service center - 8 - 12 week for the exchange to process.

No picture ; no sound

the red blinking light usually has a pattern that gives you a code to the possible problem.
Maybe you have a bad power supply board. You have to open the panel and do a few tests on the power supply's outputs to be sure.
It produces a variety of voltages for different parts of the tv ie. the plasma display panel and the audio system. The components supplying power to the audio system may have failed a year ago and recently the pdp.

plasma tv's are expensive to repair, most of the time you can get a better tv for the same price. You can reduce that cost by learning and troubleshooting it yourself.

My 42 inch Akai is about 6 months old,, and is showing green where black should be..
BUt there is help for you all.. Call Verizon, sign up for their "Expert Care" program. it's $10.00 a month, and active after the third month.
with a $75.00 deductable. THey will fix or Replace (give you choice of three alternate models/brands).
Free services under this plan are adjustments, and One FREE remote per year!.
i recomend you sign up for this program, and after 90 days. call for service. They more than likely will replace your TV's.
This is what they did with mine..
ALSO.
it doesn't matter how old your TV is, the plan is applicable to all TV's in your household. So one plan, one monthly payment of $10.00, covers all the TV's you own!!
