Protect keeps flashing

During a recent, brief power outage and immediately turning off receiver and Sony Bravia, turned all back on and the "Protect" continues to flash. I have read your possible trouble shooting fix and will try it.
This is the first time this has happened. Is there a reset button anywhere or do I fix it trial by error. Thanks, DC in Schenectady, NY

Protet mode is a special diagnostic mode that starts when a fault is detected.

When in protection mode the unit is prevented from starting by protection circuit, so to prevent further damage.

Check the speakers and speakers wiring, a contact in speaker wires, or faulty speakers can send the unit in protection.

Try unplugging power cable for one hour or so. then connect cable back and see if you get rid of protect state. Sometimes accumulation of electrostatic charges inside circuit capacitors can kick in protect mode. In that case unplugging the unit from main for some times can get rid of electrostatic charges, and reset circuits by draining power completely.
If that was the problem, you will not get Protect when plugging back power cable.

If you do all the above and still get Protect, then there is a real fault.

In that case the unit may be disassembled and tested to find the fault.

If that is the case I suggest contacting the manufacturer at the number listed on the owners manual, or asking a quote on repair to a local technician.

Wii won't turn on after a power outage.

Hey, recently had a power outage and now your Wii won't turn on?

Well unless your Wii is completely fried from the storm then this should work (It has for me every time I have had an outage).

After you find out it's not getting power then just unplug the power cable from the wall and from the Wii. Normally I unplug it for about 12-24 hours then you go plug it back into the wall, plug it back into the Wii, look at the power button and if it is red/orange then it has been fixed and you should never have a problem with it again unless you keep it plugged in during a thunderstorm/power outage!

This has happened to me about 8 times and this method worked every single time!

Sharp lcd 60 nonstop flashing power light

Have you had any recent power outages? Try a different outlet of possible and see if the tv responds. If it doesn't try a hard reset.

The reset is at the back to the TV, so turn the back of the TV out.
2. Locate the Power plug at the back to the TV.
3. Then near the Power plug there should be a small hole, use a paper clip or a needle and push into that hole for a brief period.
4. Now start the TV and see if the settings has going back to the factory default.

Power Outage Problems Sony Bravia 32" LCD TV

try cycling the power (unplug 2 minutes) and plug in and wait 30 seconds and turn back on. if this doesn't work, could have been a surge, your protector should have saved it, but could have been through cable or something. surge protectors will guarantee no damage for several years, check with the manufacturer maybe they'll cover the repair.

There was a power outage and when the power came back on, my t.v. no longer worked. When I try to turn it on, the red timer/pic off light is flashing intermittently. It is a 32" Bravia.

I bet you $120.00 you did not have a 1000VA UPS on it. If I was right, you can pay me now, and I can send you one.

You need a new TV.....or it will cost you $150.00 to fix.

The thinner they are the faster they blow...by the way they have a computer in there.

Protect keeps flashing

there is a similar problem to yours on here. also, does it take a minute to go into protect or does it happen almost immediately? i'd unplug all your speakers from the back of the receiver and turn it on, if it still goes into protect it sounds like an internal problem which has been addressed. look at this for internal problems; http://www.fixya.com/support/t245043-teac_stereo_receiver_model_agv8520
