Could be many problems with a description as vague as "not working." Can you be more specific? Does no water come on? Does the timer say it is operating? Is it plugged in? Does outlet have power? Are wires connected correctly? Can you start a zone using the bleeder screw?

Hello: On some laptops you have to hold the power button down for less then half a sec for it to come on. Also the button itself may be defective check Acer's web site and see if there is a technical bulletin relating to this issue.
