Kodak esp-3 cannot purge air from print head

Changed cartridges cleaned heads but there is air in the clear lines between the ink cartridge and the print head, tried pressurizing the cartridge and ink fills the lines and comes out the print head on all 5 colors but you can watch the ink disappear out of the lines and they fill up with air again as soon as you stop pressurizing that particular color in the cartridge through the air vent hole its like the ink is draining to the bottom or something some how HELP!!!

The black ink cartridge is full and working but nothing that is black will print

The black print head maybe blocked.
Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

Kodak esp 3250 printer only printing in blue and yellow

Hi,

According to your problem first check your printer setup. You may have to change the black ink cartridge. But first clean the head of the printer and align the cartridges.

I have a kodak ESP-3 all in one printer that has a new black, and new color ink cartridge, and the printer does not print any colors. only prints black, grey, and a litte bit of greenish tint.

Inkjet printers do not like being left unused.
The color print head may be blocked. Try several deep cleaning of the print head to see if it can clear the blocked print nozzles.
If none of this works then the print head needs to be replaced.
A new cartridge will not solve this problem.
NOTE the print head is not a cheap item, you may consider putting the money towards a new and better printer.

My printer only prints color..have installed new black cartridge but still only prints color so installed another new black cartridge and still only prints color

Unlike most printers where the print cartridge and printheads are attached and sold together, the ESP 3 has a separate printhead from the cartridges.

Remoe both cartridges. Then look at the place where the cartridges sit. There is a latch you push down in the back. This will release the printhead to allow it to be removed.

Remove the print head

Take a cotton swap and a little alcohol and clean the printhead of all ink. Repeat this until it is totally clean.

Make sure the printhead is dry and clean of all ink and alcohol.

Replace the printhead.

Place cartridges in and test.

If this does not work, then you need a new printhead for this printer.

here is an example of how to remove and replace printheads for thsi unit.
http://faqs.kodak.com/atg/faq/attachments/AUR1780-2.pdf

to gt a new printhead you must contact kodak
http://www.kodak.com/go/contact

probably as expensive or almost as expensive as a new printer.

The seperate printhead from the carts are why kodak can have their ink so cheap. Those other brands cost that extra 15-20$ for the attached new head with each cart.

Kodak esp 3250 won't print black. Changed cartridge and still won't print black. Just installed new printer.

I fixed my ESP 3250 print problems by removing the cartridges and print head. Using a Q-tip and warm water, added drops of water to each of the print head ink wells until the water / ink from the wells bled thru onto a cleanex. Did this several times. Dryed the print head fairly well. Then added a drop of water to each cartridge for each color. Reasembled and ran an alignment and to my surprise, it works! I hadn't used my printer in a while, so the ink had dryed on the felt for both the print head and cartridges.......

How do I clear a paper jam in the Kodak ESP-3 can't get to the paper

If you have tried the Kodak standard instructions for clearing the paper jam problem and it did not help try the procedure below. Works for esp 7.
1. Open the printing area of the printer (containing the ink cartridges).
2. The Ink cartridge holder should be to right side of track.
3. Look on left side, below the track for the cartridge that is used to
clean the print heads. It can be identified by a square black pad
approx. 1" sqaure that appears to be made of "felt".
If it is visible this is most likely your problem.
4. To correct problem locate the flat latching lever approx. 3/4" wide that
sticks up about 1/2" above the cartridge. It is locacted just behind
the "felt" square. Gently push lever toward rear which should free the
cleaning cartridge and allow the entir cartridge to move slightly
backward.
5. Close the top of the printer and cycle the printer off and back on.
If this is the problem, the "paper jam" error will now be gone.
This is such a simple fix I do not know why kodak does not inform
customers of this problem and how to fix it.

I have replaced the ink cartridges but the printer still thinks it is out of ink. Do I have to do some sort of reset? This is on the Kodak esp-3

Did you use a genuine Kodak cartridge or compatible? Some compatibles will work but give the empty cartridge message. HP is famous for this. Another thing you can do is make sure that the electrical contacts on the print head are clean on both the print head and where it contacts the printer.
