First remove the pull starter housing.
The next part is tricky. You'll have to release and unwind the spring that rewinds the pull starter cord. Remember how you do this because after replacing the cord, you'll have to rewind the cord and spring before inserting it back in the housing.
re-attach the pull cord housing to the chain saw.
Hope this helps.
How to replace a broken pull cord on a leaf blower. 1) Remove Hex bolts holding plastic leaf blower housing in place with your hex wrench.you may want to cut the cord with scissors and loosen the bolt or screw securing the rope assemble with hex wrench or screwdriver. 2) Remove spring assembly Carefully. (DO NOT REMOVE THE SPRING ONLY REMOVE THE ASSEMBLY) 3) Remove old cord. Notice the direction the pull cord is wound. This is important in the following step 4) Wind new pull cord in the same direction you removed it, as in step 3, Make sure cord secures in the slot provided on pull and assembly. 5) Replace the pull cord pulley and place over spring.(This is the white plastic spool.) 6) Rotate the pull cord assembly 2 or 3 times in the same direction the cord pulls. (wearing safety goggles and work gloves) Reinsert the center screw by securing in in place with your screwdriver. 7) Insert the leaf blower cord into the end of the handle opening. Secure the handle by tying a knot at the bottom of the new cord. 8) Place the pull cord assembly back onto your blower in its designated area then secure by refastening the 4 hex nuts. 9) Replace the housing cover of blower and refasten the hex nuts.(the housing you removed in step 1.) I hope this was some help to you. Good luck.
it if has a bent drive shaft the head removes by undoing it RH (anti clock wise) if it has a straght shaft with a gear head at the line end, it will come off LH ( clock wise) there will be a hole to lock the head to undo it.
Take off the whole assembly, find and replace the spring, manuually wind up the reel until it is loaded with tension in the direction that will retract the cord. THEN put new cord in through the feedhole then the assembly, then tie a small figure eight knot at the very end of the pull cord, pull it tight so it stays in its recess and then let the cord retract by releasing the tension. - you now have a fully charged retractor assembly. put it on tightly with the three 10mm bolts, reattach the plastic cover and git mowin.
I didn't find that exact one either, but recently had to work on my Yard Man 4-Cycle Straight Shaft and used a Troy-Bilt manual for a similar trimmer - worked great. If you don't find yours at this site, maybe a similar one will work. It looks like the difference is the TB525 receives attachments. If you're trying to fix something right now, here's the manual for that one until you find yours: http://lawnandgarden.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/troybilt/big_red_tb575ss.html
there is another t20 screw in the neck of the drum. once removed you will expose the drive clutch. soak it good with WD40 then unscrew it from the shaft. if you have all the housing screws out, you should be able to simply remove the housing to expose the pull cord assembly, screwed to housing.
