QOS

Supported Products - Play Wireless Router (F7D4302), Play Max Wireless Router (F7D4301)

Using QoS rules on your Belkin Router helps provide both bandwidth and priority to network traffic so it can pass without its performance being affected. It allows users to classify traffic of applications and provides them with differentiated services (Diffserv).

Setup Steps

  1. Click on the green Belkin Router Manager icon (right-click for Windows) to open the menu.
  2. On the Belkin Router Manager menu, scroll up to Router Settings and highlight.
  3. Click to open the Belkin Router Setup page on your Web browser.

You must log in with a password to make changes to your Router's settings. If you have not yet set a custom up a password, leave this field blank and click the "Submit" button.

  1. From the QoS Profiles page, you can easily set up QoS rules.
  2. Click the "Apply Changes" button to save your settings.

Also disable WPS and Firewall in router.

How do I setup security on my belkin wireless router that has been installed already?

Hi,
First here is the link to download the user manual in case you don't have it:
http://cache-www.belkin.com/support/dl/p74559-g_f5d7230-4v9xxx_manual.pdf
Now when talking about security, it depends on which part you want to secure:
1- secure the access to the router web interface: you can change the default password. the default password is blank so there is no password which is not secure at all.
2. secure the wireless access: you can change the WEP or WPA key used, first you will need to access to the router web interface and go to wireless security and then change the key. an other option is to filter by MAC address, so only the MAC addresses put in the list will be able to connect via wifi.
3. secure the incoming traffic: the NAT is enabled by default in all routers, but you can also add some rules for the incoming traffic.
That's very much it when talking about security of a wireless router.
If you need help to secure your router, i can work with you directly on your router and do the job via a remote control software like teamviewer.
Best Regards,

    Software Firewalls and Linksys Routers

You can never have too much security, however there are some firewalls that will not work with hardware firewalls, that includes the all Linksys Routers . Keeping this in mind, some software firewall will continue working after the router is installed. If it does, it shouldn't need to remove it, because it's an extra layer of security. However if there are difficulties using the Internet with the Software firewall after installing the router, try disableing it to see if internet is accessable. If the internet works after disabling the software firewall, then remove the firewall.
