Where is the protection circuitry at - Yamaha RX-V2400 Receiver

Try first unplugging power cable for five minutes , see if it reset.

DC Protection is not something you can turn off..

press and hold the 'tone control' and 'info' buttons and press power. This will release the protect. The first thing that show on the display will be the protect code to tell you why it shut down. If it turns right back off, then you most likely have a short in the amp that will need to be repaired.

It sounds like protection circuitry is kicking in to protect the speaker from being overdriven.

The flashing of standby light means that there is a failure on its circuitry. The system cotroller activates the protection mode if one part of the circuitry is gone bad to avoid further damage.Please count the times of flashes after 3 second of interval. 2 blinks. There is a problem on your circuitry. A short circuit on your B+ line or a shorted Horizontal output transistor. Also disconnect your B+ line to confirm if the SMPS give sufficient power for the circuitry.

Make sure the speaker wires aren't shorted together and that they are not freyed or cracked...the unit is in protect due to it's internal circuitry sensing a shorted output condition...this is in place to protect the unit should the speaker wires become shorted together. You can remove the speaker wires entirely and then turn on the unit to see if it comes on...if so then I would look at each wire carefully to make sure they look good..of course if the unit comes on and the wires look good then you may have a bad speaker component...Now, if the unit stays in protect after you unplug the speakers, then the unit probably has a blown audio output stage inside the circuitry and will need to be serviced.

Hi the protection light comes on when there is a problem within the amps. circuitry. Generally speaking the protection light normally comes on when powered up while the amp checks all of its voltage rails so that they all lie within a specific tolerance, when all have been verified to be in spec. then the protect light goes out & the power light comes on. If the protect light stays on then a fault exists within it's circuitry. Cheers, acbva.
