Bosch dishwasher Model SHU43C02UC/17 consistently leaves film on glassware, leaves residue in the bottom of glasses in the back position of the top rack, and sometimes leaves gritty residue on dishes throughout the dishwasher. The stainless steel interior is also stained. I regularly clean the filter, use Jet Dry (the product that was included with the machine when I purchased it), and rinse the dishes before filling. The dishwasher has never cleaned dishes like the 17-year-old Kitchen Aid dishwasher that was in the house we lived in previously. We bought the Bosch to replace the cheap contractor's model that was in our condo when we bought. The Bosch was no improvement. Would I buy or recommend a Bosch? Never!!

ACTUALLY WE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM DIFFERANT TIMES,WE FOUND THAT THE ROTATING ARM WAS PREVENTED FROM GOING AROUND BY AN OBSTICLE IN THE DISHWASHER SUCH AS A PLASTIC SERVING SPOON STANDING UP IN THE SILVERWARE TRAY, TRY LAYING IT DOWN IN THE UPPER RACK

  • Anonymous Mar 20, 2008

Everything has film on it...glassware, dishes, etc and stainless steel. Can't tell if soap door is opening or not. Rinse dry is full. Is running white vinegar through machine a good way to clean it and remove the film on stainless inside?

  • Anonymous Oct 08, 2008

It doesn't clean anything. I run an infant daycare and I need the bottles, nipples, pacifiers etc., to be VERY clean and sterilized. Heck, I can't even get regular drinking glasses clean. Part of that problem comes from the fact that you cannot lower the top rack. But the silverware is NEVER clean, so you wonder if the damn thing is getting anything else clean, nevermind the water spots on every single glass whether I use Jet-Dry or not. I have tried powdered detergents, I've also tried gels (which I read were not a good idea because it causes problems with build-up of gunk in the pipes) but I've tried everything I can think of. NOTHING GETS CLEAN. It worked fine for about the first month I had it and for the past year and a half, I've had to wash the dishes by hand before I wash them in the Bosch dishwasher. It's a piece of junk compared to the old Maytag I had before. And we paid a lot of money for this hunk of junk, too, I might add.

Next DW I get is going to be a double drawer Fischer. Yessirrreee.

If someone from the Bosch company wants to help me out here, I'd be glad of it because I've tried everything I can think of ... and then some.

My new Bosch, purchased in 2008, consistently leaves residue on the glasses. If I fill a glass with water after it has been cleaned by the DW, there are soapy bubbles in the water. If I rinse it out first with tap water, there are no bubbles when I fill my glass.

I have the same dishwasher and the same problem. It did work well for about two years, then started leaving film on everything. BTW, I use the Cascade recommended by the manufacturer as well as Jet Dry. I cleaned the filter and nothing improved. Now, I wash the dishes by hand and let them dry in the dishwasher. There is something wrong with this machine. Also occasionally, the d/w does not drain at the end of the cycle. We checked the lines, etc. and they were not kinked and the filter/drain was not plugged. Go figure.

Although I previously posted with the same problem of a film on the dishes after cleaning, I did find a section in the owner's manual which solved my problem. Lift up the rinse aid cap on the inside door - the factory setting is on "4". The rinse aid works in conjunction with your local water, which has variations in it's hardness or softness. When your dishes are streaky, lower the rinse aid setting to 1 or 2. If your dishes are spotted, raise the rinse aid setting higher.

We were told by Bosch to not use lemon scent. Use the original generic soap with NO sprakle or smell because the jet dry does the rest. Just let the soap be soap. Hopes this helps.

How did I get the film off my glassware? My glassware has a thick film that is very unappealing. I have to hand wash them. I use cascade detergent.

If you are not using a water softener use a rinse aid such as Jet Dry. This will help to eliminate scum on glassware. Use the solid form of Jet Dry. If you use a water softener you need to decrease the amount of detergent.
You can determine the cause of cloudy glassware by soaking a glass in vinegar for 5 minutes. If the cloudiness is removed it is a hard water deposit and more detergent is likely needed. If the cloudiness is not removed it is a permanent condition known as etching. In this situation, use less detergent and stop pre-washing. In actuality, dishwashing detergent needs a bit of soil to work on, otherwise it will tend to foam up.

My Bosch dishwasher is streaking the glassware, inside of the dishwasher and plastic utensils for the past couple of months. What is wrong?

The problem is most likely that there is still water residue at the bottom of your machine. If the machine is not fully drained it picks up some of the residue and sprays that onto the dishes during the final rinse, leaving an unhealthy and unsightly film on everything.
Remove the bottom strainers and make sure that there is nothing obstructing the outlet pipe and the pump. If possible back flush through the outlet pipe and try draining the machine again before using it again.

Bosch dishwasher she58c leaves all my glasses cloudy

using to much soap will cause this problem.
If the unit can not get all the soap out on the rinse cycle, it will leave residue on the glasses.
ALSO:
1)Make sure you are using rinse-aid!!!!!
2) turn your sink water on before you turn the d/w on. That way the water is already hot when it goes in.
