Inkjet printers require both ink cartridges to be full and not expired before the printer will fully initialize. Even if you are only printing black in both carts do not complete the power up sequence the printer will never go online to print.

SOURCE: printer keep restarting. c6180 hp photosmart

Apparently some defective components were used in the construction of the logic board (see photo). On my C6180 there were 3 failed capacitors (the green cylinders - the puffed top indicates failure) and a 4th from the same manufacturer (TEAPO - many unfavorable web references to this manufacturer). I purchased 3x 330uF 16V and 1x 680uF 10v rated to 105 degrees Celsius (total about 60cents). On the logic board, the capacitors I replaced are labeled C613, C614, C660 and C662. If you are not comfortable replacing the parts yourself (or don't have a soldering tool), you will have to find someone who will. The time to repair should be less than 30 min - I did it in 25 min with only a solder pen. This also fixed the ink system failures the printer was having. A similar fix may apply to other printers produced by HP around this time. acca299.jpg

Black ink will not print on Photosmart C6150; Ink

I'd do the reboot of the printer.Turn it off, unplug for 60 seconds, plug it back in,turn it back on and see if the black will work. After plugging back in it should clean the print head and then you can do a test page to make sure.

Black ink cartridge wont print, have installed a new ink refill still no joy. Will print in all other colours.

Well if you already installed a new black ink cartridge and still wont print, then try cleaning your printer head. It can be that the some ink was hardened and got stuck preventing you to print a black color.

C6180 failed alignment test, will not print color properly

All colors need to be present to pass alignment. Usually what I see is the yellow is empty. You can blot the print cartridge on a damp paper towel to verify the inks are working and this also cleans the head.

HP Photosmart C6180 colors no good - missing colors & muted. No longer aligns print when requested, per HP note at end. Already cleaned print heads,[OK], aligned printer numerous times-doesn't work....

try resetting the printer using the # and the number 6 buttons, holding them down and then inserting the power cord at the back of the printer.
see if it works.

Black wont print

How did you resetted the machine??
Did it gave you any error messages??
Try to take out the black ink cartridge and try to clean the contacts (the copper colored circles) with a cotton swab dampened with bottled water. (don't use tap water coz there are contaminants on the tap water might ruin the contacts). Send me a message if it still wont work
