With the wheel on you will have a 3 pronged washer, make sure that the screw on the stop motion wheel is unscrewed all the way, put the stop motion wheel back on ans tighten it hand tight only, tighten the screw in the stop motion and see if the stop motion frees off and then tightens again so the machine will work, if it does not take the stop motion wheel of again and move the 3 pronged washer in a different position and put the stop motion wheel back on again

SOURCE: adjust hand wheel bernina 1008 sewing mmaachine

Barbara. When you removed the handwheel did you find a bit weird looking washer with ears around the outside and to fingers pointing to the center of the washer? If so you probably put that in backwards. The center fingers are slightly bent... they would be bent toward the outside.

Why does my bernina activa cant pick up the bobbin thread

Is your needle in backward, are you using correct needles,
if so shut off machine, remove the pressed foot and needle plate, insert correct needle (size 90) select move needle to right hand position, , remove the bobbin case and open the shuttle cover, leaving the shuttle in place, lower the needle bar by rotating machine, after you have turned the hand wheel so that the needle reaches dead bottom, then continue to slowly rotate the hand wheel and determine if the eye of the needle is below the shuttle tip
as they intersect.
If so you can either take the machine to a qualified technician for correct timing. Or sit and cry a bit (lol)

hope this helps

Bernette 715 sluggish....I am oiling and running it now. Is there anything else I should do?

check and remove any thread build up around the bobbin carrier and shaft
this thread winds in so tight that it acts like a brake
take it in for a clean and service

The machine will not turn the spindle to wind cotton onto the bobbin.

What model Bernina is it? Most operate on a simple system where a rubber wheel on the bobbin winder comes into contact with the handwheel (under the cover) ... the handwheel is disengaged so the needle has no drive.......

Needle not going up and down but power getting to the machine

Check your manual for the bobbin winding steps for your particular model.

On some machines there is a knob in the center of the hand wheel that is loosened for bobbin winding - this also disengages the movement of the needle. Tighten for sewing.

There may be an additional step, such as moving the bobbin winding pin to the right or the bobbin winding wheel to the left.

Just bought my used Bernina 1010;it was sold to me

Heat the wheel with a hair dryer to loosen. If this does not help, you will need to visit an authorized Bernina dealer.
