My model # is:GSD2200G00BB. It is 12 years old. Recently, the motor is making unusual grinding and rumbling noises I have never heard before, especially at the beginning of the cycle. Dishes have been cracked and chipped. I never wash pots, pans or cutlery. Nothing has ever fallen out of racks or basket to the tub floor. The bottom rack is never more than 1/2 full (8 plates). I only run it every 4 days. Cycles complete and dishes are clean.

The best thing to do here cost wise is to replace the unit.

SOURCE: Top rack dishes have grainy particles on them after washing and will not come clean.

Run the dishwasher and observe the spray arm,if split it will spray water down: Also check water in tub, is it filling up sufficiently to get near the heater? If it has a upper spray arm does it spray water? If not you may have a clogged upper spray arm.

SOURCE: GE dishwasher GSD2200G00WW dishes not clean

Make sure the spray arm is actually rotating and the jets aren't clogged. You should be able to hear the arm rotating when the dishwasher is operating.

Otherwise, perhaps the pump is plugged or not working and the water isn't "jetting"

SOURCE: Dishes not getting clean

Check the following to address this issue.

1. No water
Make sure you get water to the dishwasher. Check to see if the water shut-off valve (located under the sink) is open. If you get water to the dishwasher, but there is still no water inside during the fill cycle, the problem might be with a faulty water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side), in which case replace the water valve.

2. Not enough water
If there is not enough water, the dishes would not get cleaned. This could be caused by a partially closed water shut-off valve (located under the sink), or a faulty dishwasher water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side).

3. Clogged spay arms
There is usually two, sometimes three spray arms in a dishwasher. Make sure there is no debris blocking the holes inside each spray arm.

4. Water temperature is too low
To get the best results, the water has to be at 120 degrees Fahrenheit when entering the dishwasher.

5. Not enough soap
If you only fill one part of the soap cup, try adding soap to both parts.

6. Smoky film on dishes and glasses
This problem occurs due to excessive calcium build up inside the dishwasher. Try cleaning you dishwasher using a dishwasher cleaner.

Check whether the top rack spray arm main hose sits firmly into the
machine. If there is a leak in this area water pressure may not develop.
Also check the water pump in the machine!

How do I tell how old my kenmore dryer is?

What exactly is this 'loud noise'? Is it a constant grinding or rumble sound that changes with drum speed or is is an occasional thumping, banging noise as the drum speeds up or slows down? A grinding or rumble is often a drum bearing and Thumping is commonly the 'suspension' the drum rides in to stop it 'walking across the room or shaking itself to pieces as it goes into high spin speeds. Your machine's age will only affect you if it is a very old machine and parts are difficult to find.

12 year-old F&P dryer motor makes a loud noise but not a grinding noise.

The motor shaft bearings can be worn especially the one on the pullry end of the motor. 12 years is a good run on any motor, so a replacement would be in order.

Maytag Performa top loader is making grinding noises

The agitators are a pop-on fit. Make sure that the agitator is firmly seated on the shaft. Lift it up and if it moves easily adjust it to the splines on the shaft and press it back into place.

Kenmore dryer stopped running

Hi, I can determine a motor bad by the noise. Does it hum while holding the start button or is it a grinding deep sound? It can sound like the motor starts slow but once it gets going, it is ok. Sometimes the house lights will dim when the motor statrs going bad.
Let me know if I can help you further.
