The spark arrestor screen sits inside the muffler on a gas-powered leaf blower. These screens help prevent heated gases from escaping the internal combustion engines.
The spark arrestor should be at the end of the silencer. There is a couple of bolts you remove in order to take the cover off. Once removed you should see a screen or even a tubular mesh which is considered a spark arrestor.
Hi James Ferguson Your spark arrestor is in the muffler of the trimmer. You will dissassemble the muffler and there will be a type of screen/metal with holes,etc...that is your spark arrestor. Clean and reassemble and your good to go Please take time to rate me Bud Also go to the following webpage to see a spark arrestor cleaning, not your model but it will still apply to your weed trimmer maybe different steps. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kA68zpEajnU
It sounds like the spark arrestor screen in the muffler is clogged with carbon. You may have to look at the muffler to find where the spark arrestor screen is. It is in a different place on each brand of trimmer. You can clean the spark arrestor screen after it is out or off of the muffler by burning it with a propane or similar torch. This will cause the carbon to get hot enough to ash off of the screen. Then you can put it back in the carburetor.
Fuel mix is too heavy on oil, or if you run the trimmer at half throttle a lot this can cause the carbon buildup. I hope this answers your question.
I had the same problem with mine. I found that the spark arrestor screen in the muffler was clogged with carbon. A new screen for about $2. solved the problem.
Try checking the spark arrestor inside the muffler. They often get clogged and will not allow the exhaust to escape easily. I had this same issue and spent bou coup cash trying to fix the carb and intake side, then when I was going to check the compression, I removed the 3 screws on the muffler cover and 3 more screws on the spark arrestor and found the little screen was clogged. I cleaned it with carb cleaner and ... VOILA...problem solved. I hope this helps. If you call the company they will recommend a carb kit. Try the spark arrestor first (cheaper and easier, too). I hope this helps.
