Very common thing because the presser bar is always very tight in the housing, all you need to do is put some easing oil or wd40 on the bar and physically move the bar up and down and it will free off

SOURCE: Presser foot down, but still get error "E1"

I had the same problem. It started after I took the cover off to fix something else. After I screwed the cover back on, I kept getting the E1 message even when the foot was already down. I took the cover off again, and I found that there is a metal tab at the top left of the front cover, that is pushed by a metal tab in the back that moves when you put the presser foot up or down. You can see this metal tab moving in the back if you put the foot up and down with the cover off. Just putting the foot down(I think) before putting the cover back on fixed it so one metal tab is on the correct side of the other metal tab.

SOURCE: presser foot lever does not lift presser foot

If you can remove the cover on the left side you will see the presser foot bar. On the bar there will be a screw that may be loose. Turn the handwheel until the needle is all the way down and lift the foot manually until just before it makes contact with the needle clamp and tighten the screw on the presser foot bar.
That should do it.

Singer Touch and Sew 756 feed dog gear replacement

DON'T cut lumps out of your machine. There will be a sequence you use to remove the parts you need to access to the gears more easily. The Youtuber you referred to sounds like they have zero knowledge when it comes to these older style machines.
'Note' Some of the gear mount nuts are on a "Reverse" thread meaning you turn them the 'wrong' way to get them off.
My limited knowledge is more on the much older hand crank and treadle machines.
Try the Youtube link below for a channel called 'Andy Tube'. He has a good reputation for correct repair methods. The link is for a 758 but they're both Touch and Sew machines.
You could also try the Facebook group 'Vintage Singer Sewing Machines' as they have loads of knowledge about loads of different machines.

Presser foot lever Singer promise 1408

It is unlikely that you needed to go very far with the tear down. You are brave. Put it back together and take it in for servicing.

Why is my presser foot lever loose?
The presser foot lever is very loose and not moving the bar (foot lever). There is probably either an adjustment not set correctly or a screw that needs adjusting or replacing.

Singer Touch and Sew 756 sewing machine presser foot stuck in up position @

It could be a string jam - download this free duplicate of your client manual from SingerCo and follow the bearings in the investigating area at the rear of the booklet:
www.singerco.com/.../6e3d0b95f430c140ffaf95b6bc45a3255f896542...
In the event that that doesn't help, be certain that the presser foot is appropriately connected, verify whether the feed hounds are in the right position, and (this happens a great deal) the machine has been exchanged back to sewing mode in the wake of winding a bobbin.
At long last, however, you may need to take the machine to a fix tech (it's a genuinely new model so yours strength despite everything be under guarantee) - if the above doesn't work the main other purpose behind what you're encountering is (likely, could be two or three different things, as well) that the spring-gear has fizzled.

Why the presser foot doesn't move up or down in my singer 500a. The presser foot lever move up and down but not gone presser foot.

It is an old machine and possibly the presser foot has became rusted. This can be repaired if it isn't too bad but you might want to find another one to replace it just to make it easy.

The presser foot won't go down.

Yes indeed, it is possible--sounds to me like a screw worked itself loose. However, I would purchase the service manual for your machine. As a bonus, it tells you how to make all kinds of useful adjustments.

Go to Sewing Parts Online and do a search under Singer Service Manuals; if they don't have it in stock, call or email them and they will be happy to order it for you. Generally takes two weeks to get it in stock.

Vintage Tough and Sew Model # 628 PRESSER FOOT QUESTION!

You should be able to figure out which shank your machine has here:

If you have the manual, it should show you how to change the presser feet.

SINGER Instruction Manual pdf model 628

If your machine and presser foot look like the one in the video, the screw on the left side of the presser foot should be what holds the presser foot in place.

I have a 9960 singer machine and am trying to use the buttonhole presser foot for the first time and I can not get it to sew T

the buttonhole foot snaps on to the presser bar, there's a little lever at the back of the presser bar that releases the foot, then put the buttonhole foot down on the needle plate & use the presser foot lifter (number 11) to lower the presser bar down onto the buttonhole foot & you'll hear a click sound when it snaps on & make sure to use the buttonhole lever(number 31) because the machine won't sew a buttonhole unless that lever is pulled down.

I think you have to position the new presser foot under the shank then drop the presser foot lever down as if you were beginning to sew. This should snap the new presser foot right on. Be sure the little bar is positioned under the hook.
