We need 2 battery packs for our phones #5-2729 3.6 volt 600 mah. Our phones are not even 1 year old, and if we call Thomson Co. they have no record of the phone or battery. HELP! The service & parts dept give us the run around. Their case # is 3D9B5. Supervisor Arc was no help, he said any power battery is OK to use.

any battery with the same dimensions can be used
it will require the same mah rating or bigger but nothing smaller
the mah rating is a rating as to how long the battery will last when in use so if you fitted a 7.5 volt 100mah battery it will last longer before needing a recharge
the critical aspects are
1-- the battery has to be the same composition ( alkaline --nicad--met hydroxide etc) and
2 the voltage has to be 7.5 volts
A higher capacity battery should work even better because a fully charged 900 mAh battery allows the phone to operate 50% longer than a 600 mAh battery between charges. I have had good results with Rayovac Recharge Plus 900 mAh in my Philips SE450. This phone will latch and not operate upon ringing if it doesn't like its batteries (probably high internal resistance), even though the batteries test good on a battery tester.
If it is an old battery (3 plus years) it probably needs to be replaced. The other failure point is the charger. That can be checked with a volt meter. should be about 4 volts for each battery in the system. 1 battery 4 v, 2 batteries 8 v. Depending on the system it maybe either ac or dc. Try both with your volt metter.
