I have an old kew pressure washer and when I pull the trigger on the lance, the water jet is only at mains pressure.

Works only intermittently. Other times pressing the trigger to make high pressure jet of water has no effect. Machine remains absolutely silent

Dear dennis_partr,
In general all pressure washers have a control valve. This is sometimes refered to as the Spill Valve. When the trigger is pulled, the spill valve is in normal position. When the trigger is released, the spill valve compresses to let water circulate from its bottom part. If when the trigger is pulled and the bottom part of the spill valve does not close, then water keeps on circulating and hence no pressure. In this case change the spill valve with a new one. Also there could be a fault in the sucktion valves. If the sucktion vaves do not close, also water keeps on circulating. One also can examine the delivery valves. If these are not closing, then water is being sucked while delivering. Hence no pressure. Another cause but very rare, is that the swash plate that is pushing the pistons got loose. The electric motor will be turning, but the pistons stay in the same position.
I mentioned many causes, but usualy it is the spill valve. If with a new spill valve, there is still no pressure....then you must tackle the sucktion and then the delivery valves.
I wish to add that I assume that you have the correct lance and correct nozzel size. A worn out nozzel, will result in low prssure too.
Regards,
Fulltech.

I switch the pressure washer on motor starts pressure builds up motor stops. OK pull the trigger on the lance the moter starts sounds different water pressure low. Release trigger motor still runs.

It isnt very clear your explanation of the problem but what type washer do you have first? It sounds like you have a bad unloader or need a new variable nozzle tip. Can you explain in more clear detail. Thanks

Water does not come out of the lance when I squeeze the trigger

HI it sounds like you may just have a blocked jet on the end of your lance. Please remove and clean.

I have a Kew Hobby 80. The output from the lance is not constant but pulsates.

Could be the input water pressure is not sufficient. There is a pressure valve inside the machine that will cut off the motor if input pressure is too low or non existent.

Try a different source for the water input.

No water pressure. feels like it is developing pressure in the pump but wont deliver more than a small stream and then enging cuts out like it is bogging down

Sounds like it could be just a main jet bloked in your lance. Please remove the jet and see if you have a good water flow when pressing the trigger.

Craftsman model 580.752020 electric pressure washer. First time I used it worked for about three minutes then the motor stopped. I cannot get it to start again. Plugged into a 15 amp gfi circuit which did...

turn off water and machine electrics.

remove high pressure hose from front of machine, this may be tight if there is still pressure in the system.
turn on water, when water comes out of machine hose outlet turn on machine. does the machine turn on and water flow increase, if so you probably have a blocked lance jet or trigger.

remove lance extension if fitted and fit hose back to machine, try again. If its ok then this proves you have a blocked lance jet, maybea poke about with some stiff wire will free the obstruction.

If this doesnt bring on the machine you probably have a jammed pressure switch on the pump.

this pressure switch turns on the pump when the trigger is pulled and switches the motor off when the trigger is released.

hope this helps.

No pressure unless i take the nosle off , pull trigger and put nossel back on then it's ok until i release the trigger again ?

unloader valve sticking in the pump head. remove unloader valve/ pressure reducing valve as per parts manual.

It will probably be caked up in white crystal type deposits if its an aluminium pump head. clean off the deposits and inspect the 'o' rings. if 'o' rings ok , apply silicon grease and refit.

It could also be a partially blocked lance jet not allowing enough water to come out of the lance if it is a flow sensitive unloader valve.

My karcher G2000QT WORKS AT HIGH PRESURE FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS AND THEN STOPS THEN A COUPLE OF SECONDS LATER WILL START AGAIN WHATS GOING ON?

are you making the machine **** for water, if so you have got a air leak on the suction hose.
try force feeding with water by connecting your hose to the mains water hose and see if you can see a water leak.
could be starved of water also, chack the filter

No pressure on certain settings

Dear Osville,
It is not clear what type of lance or nozzel you have. You said that the machine works fine with the circulating water jet(the turbo). So it seems the machine is fine. I do sometimes service variable nozzels and variable lances. But the best solution is to replace nozzels and variable nozzles and lances with new ones. Regarding the fan spray setting it could have no pressure because it might be in the chemical setting. The chemical setting lets out a fan shape flow of water, but with less pressure. The chemical system only works on low pressure in domestic washers, that is why it needs a low pressure flat spray. The pencil jet has 2 jets comming out because if it is a lance or nozzel with ball bearings, these ball bearings must have stuck in a wrong position. Also 2 jets can come out, due to a damaged nozzel hole.
Altogether, the best advice is to buy a new nozzel or lance...which ever your machine uses. All Karcher machines have their own specific nozzels, lances and high pressure hoses. You cannot change these from one model to another.

Fulltech.
