My Kenmore series 70 Washer will not drain. It fills and agitates but when it reaches the drain cycle it just stops. It doesn't appear to be the lid switch as I hear a clicking when I close the lid. Help? Love this washer and don't want to get rid of it if it is something minor I can repair.

Possible fault with the controller unit if there is no power to the drain pump at the time of the drain cycle. You need to check the power on the drain pump at this time, if there is power then remove the drain pump and reset, if not the controller unit output is absent and is a suspect.

SOURCE: Kenmore 70 series washer fills w/H20, but doesn't agitate or spin

Fix it. Very easy fix and the part is not expensive. What you have is a direct drive motor. For ease of maintenance the machine is made in a way which makes it possible to service it in place without having to move it. You flip the controls up and pop the retaining clips in back, unplug the lid switch harness and tip the case towards you an out of the way. You can now access the pump, motor, and that pesky drive coupling. These do simply wear out but they usually will go if a comforter is washed in it or low water big load scenario.ea74271.jpg

Kenmore Heavy Duty Series 70 washing machine gets stuck in cycle.

Either your timing motor has broken or the gears that it drives are stripped. The timing motor is easy to replace but if the gears are stripped you will need a whole new dial assembly.

Hello, Have a Kenmore series 70 (capcity plus).

Note after reading a bunch of information. I went home and removed the hose from the Level Switch and "clean it", if you will and re-attached. Started a load, and bingo bango bongo, it work. Thanks for the insight.

Washer wont agitate or stop filling on any setting

Hello Friend, Just replace the water pressure/level switch. Replacement will make it fill correctly and agitate. Happy to help.

Kenmore series 70 washer will only fill with water.

I recently had this problem. It was found that the main drive belt broke and the washer would fill but not spin, agitate or drain. I replaced the belt and everything worked again. A defective or disconnected cover switch would also cause the same problem.

Kenmore Washing Machine 70 series

You most likely have a broken coupler between the motor and gearcase.
You can buy the part for about $10 or have someone come out and replace it for about $150-200.
If you will post the complete model number from the the washer so I can see which style cabinet you have, I will try to walk you through the repair. It isn't very complicated if you are handy with home repairs.
With the age of the machine it probably just needs a coupler, but it could also have a problem in the transmission or basket drive that has caused the failure.
