Hi, can I connect a guitar or base through my headphone plugin on my Harmon Kardon AVR 135 receiver? I tryed but don't get no sound, but I belive I did once connect microphone there but can't remember how.
Sorry. They are not compatible. The headphone jack is an output but you need an input for a guitar or bass. You will certainly damage the HK if you continue. There are no compatable inputs on the HK. The inputs are meant to be used with a 300mv output device, such as a CD or DVD.

hey i also had this problem, i don't know the name of these but they are basically plugs that you have to block output from the front rear and center speakers of the white/red cables... sry for bad description but its on the left side when looking at the back of the receiver, while all of the other speaker wires should be hooked up to the right with the twisting knobs... it took me forever to find this out but yeah it was a simple fix

I upgraded my HK AVR 20II and ran into the same problem when I tried to hook the old unit up out in my garage.
Luckily I remember that on the rear there is a pre-out RCA port (L/R) and a Main-In port that are intended to be to/from an equalizer/amplifier. These come jumpered out of the box, but I had been using an equalizer so the jumpers were long lost.
Assuming you also have no amp/eq you are using, just connect the Pre-Out to the Main-In using a standard M/M RCA cable and you will be in business. (turn the volume down first!)
Good luck.

The only way is to get yourself a separate karaoke mixer that you can connect to your receiver, or get yourself a small two channel disco mixer
