When I take a picture with my canon 10d the image comes up black. I know it's not an exposure issue. I have had this camera for almost 9 years, and it's in good condition. What can I do to fix it.

What the problem looks like The problem can take any of several forms, but all involve severe color shifts and/or severe distortions of the image. The images below show two examples (courtesy of Konica Minolta) of what the problem might look like, if your camera falls prey to it. In the early stages of the problem, the camera may still capture recognizable images, but with a washed-out appearance and a strong magenta or green tint. What products may be affected? Quite a number of products may develop this problem, including digital cameras, camcorders, and even PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants) that incorporate an image sensor. The following is a list of affected models by various manufacturers that we are presently aware of. We will update this list as new information becomes available. We recommend that you check the site regularly for this and other breaking news.

SOURCE: have canon Powershot A75 3.2 Mega pixel camera .. Now it is having display issue. Once i open my camera lens come out power come but unable to see the image in lcd to shoot.. Can you assist

First try pressing the DISPLAY button. If that doesn't fix it then this sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

SOURCE: Canon Powershot SD1000: LCD screen display

Hopefully you resolved this already. If not, push the "DISP." button left of the MENU button. Pushing it gives you three options: black (for discreet shooting so your LCD doesn't give garner dirty looks from fellow concert goers), liveview, and liveview with info overlayed (shooting mode, ISO, etc.). Good luck!

Every shot is coming out black

Have to checked to see if your exposure compensation settings are set to way underexpose your images? This will override all settings and darken your photos. Does it do it when you have the camera set on auto and/or manual? If not, and the images don't come out in the camera and on a computer then there may be an issue with the auto aperture in the lens. Try a different lens and see if it persists. There could also be a shutter issues but you'd usually get an error message with both these problems.

All of a sudden the images my camera is taking look totally overexposed, is it possible that i switched some setting without knowing? why is there so much light in my pictures?

Yes, there is a setting called exposure compensation, which you may have altered.
Try switching the camera back to A (Auto) mode, and see if that fixes it.
In the manual setting modes, exposure compensation will look like this:
http://images.digitalcamerainfo.com/images/upload/Image/new/Photokina08/Canon/sd880is/photos/Canon-sd880is-menu-functionset-375.jpg
Make sure that you haven't set the exposure compensation to +2, for example. It should usually be set on 0.

Why do my pictures come out black when they are developed

If we assume that the lens cap has been removed for the pictures, then you have other issues. The shutter is not opening. Why?
1. mechanical issue like something broken, bent, jumped out of the track.
solution: repair shop

2. electronic issue like exposure module died, misreading exposure sensor, flash not raising and firing, etc.
solution: repair shop.

Repair shop will also Clean, Lube and Adjust.

My camera takes picture but there all black? The

Last year my Canon PSA60 got the black screen in shooting mode. Menu display was normal and so the picture review mode.
Canon service center replaced the image sensor for free. When it happened again, I asked the service center for unit exchange (trade-in/upgrade program). Now I have my PowerShot S5IS. Good bye PSA60.

Canon has issued this in their notice page: http://support-asia.canon-asia.com/index.jsp?fuseaction=support&prod_type=notices-digitalcameras-lcd

Try manually setting the ISO speed to 100. Sometimes on Auto ISO the camera chooses a high speed that reduces colors. Or you can try adjusting the exposure with the EV button - set to a lower setting like -1 or -1 1/2.
