SOURCE: fuji finepix A600 camera - Zoom error

I had the same problem turn up after a few weeks. When I used the zoom button, the lens pushed out again and the camera worked normally for that time. I had to go through that procedure every time I turned the camera on.
I then sent it back on warranty and they replaced the lens assembly as well as the mode dial knob etc.
This camera has a 3 year warranty.
good luck...

SOURCE: My Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W120 Super Steady Shot zoom won't work!

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if the zoom function does not operate.

NOTES:

  • The zoom function will not operate with some AE modes.
  • The zoom function is not available while shooting a movie on all cameras. Refer to the owner's manual for information regarding the functions available on the camera. Manuals are available online in the Manuals/Specs/Warranty section of the Sony® eSupport Web site.

  1. Change the Auto Exposure (AE) mode on the camera.
  2. Ensure the camera is not set for movie mode.
  3. If the camera has a conversion lens setting in the menu, set it of OFF.
  4. Reset the camera back to factory settings. To reset the Camera, please select Initialize under Settings and Main Settings 1.
NOTE: If the issue is still unresolved after completing all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required .

SOURCE: Hi Ive got an Olympus SP-550UZ digital Camera

Hello

Thank you for using FixYa for your problem

Always check the batteries first but if is it still giving the same fault, your camera is faulty. "Zoom error" is repairable
It should be taken to an authorized repair centre for a repair estimate. Very few digital cameras have any user-serviceable parts.

Please rate our solutions and if you still have problems please call back for more ideas to help you

SOURCE: fuji film finepix f20 zoom error. it's stuck and won't move

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you found this helpful.

Regards
Andrea

Internal Zoom Malfunction

Hi

Do you mean the 'digital zoom' when you zoom in as far as possible on something or do you mean even with the camera zoomed all the way OUT it still does it?

Yes you should always avoid the 'digital zoom', but if it still doesn't work when zoomed all the way out you need to have the lens cleaned, repaired, or replaced.

I can't take pictures....

This error message TURN THE POWER OFF AND ON AGAIN is a common error message for digital cameras that has a zoom lens. One possible cause for this is that the battery may had drained out and the lens is still extended. There would be different that steps you could perform and make sure you have fresh or fully charged batteries when performing these steps.

First of course try to do what the error states.

If will not work, set the unit in PLAY mode before turning it ON or immediately right after you press the power. If it successfully gets through the PLAY mode, initialize the settings and restart th camera. You could initialize it by going to the menu and then setup.

If still will not work, turn it off and also remove the battery and allow it to have no power at all for a minute.

If all the steps above will still not work. your camera would require service and try calling its manufacturer to setup a repair on it.

I can't zoom with my DSC-H1

Check the Sony Support site for this- it may be a free firmware adjustment to down load.
It is not likely an out of warrant camera could be a viable repair option

Zoom

It looks like a problem with the zooming mechanism (lens would not retract or extended) Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem. In any case it could not make it worse
