Crack on the inside screen of my 42" Philips Plasma TV

I had this TV for about 14 months and one fine day I heard some buzzing noise and noticed a crack on the inside the TV screen (2 cracks like what you see in lightning) and the outside glass is unscathed.

I called philips and they said they cannot do anything as the product is out of warranty.

I just wanted to findout if anyone else faced the same/similar issue. because, this looks like a known issue which Philips is not admitting.

    Zane,

    Thanks for your reply.

Do you know what is causing this crack?

This is a known problem with Philips. If you keep on them they will work with you. Another option is call a repair shop in your area and see if they can help you out. Sometimes a repair shop will help out if you allow them to do the service if they are able to get Philips to pay for the repair.

You know I'm not exactly sure what causes that. If it's faulty panels, too much heat, or something else. I have replaced 3 panels with that problem. Every time it was a similar thing. Just sitting there watching tv and hear a crack. No damage to the outside glass just the inside. I worked on one of them where I spend almost 2 weeks going back and forth with Philips to get them to pay for the repair. I was able to get them to pay for the panel but not labor.

Quietly watching tv, then a pop, a buzz and a crack on the screen

Yes,if the screen cracked from the inside of the panel and not the outside, you are entitled to either a replacement or warrantied repair. That was caused by heat and we have serviced heat related manufacturer design flaws. Unfortunatly,it is out of warranty, but if it was caused through normal use and not user error,a technician will have to confirm it was internal cracks. MAKE SURE you call philips for an authorized servicer and have the reference number on hand, model number, and serial number.

Samsung Plasma has crack on INSIDE of screen- i

If you have no warranty, you have no options. Even if you did, most manufacturers will not cover physical damage. The cost of replacing the panel which is what would be necessary.

Black screen

You have a cracked panel and the gasses inside have escaped. The buzzing noize you are hearing the the current flowing throught the panel. It will be cheaper buying a new TV than buying a replacement panel. But if u wanna check out the price look up your model on parts.com

42 inch LG Plasma TV - Lost picture

Our LG 50" plasma tv screen went black after a popping noise but still had sound, after great diliberations decided to take the back off and have a peek!
We unplugged the tv and tested the fuses (there were three we could see) one had blown, the one on the left as you look at the back of the tv it also has one above it. We wrote the code/seriel number down and took the fuse to the electrical wholesalers Maplin and bought a pack of 10 fuses for £1.29 replaced the fuse in the tv and everything now fine!!!!!!
Hope this might be of use to anyone whose lost the picture after a loud popping/snacking noise but still has sound.

Verticle lines on screen

This is a very easy fix. Your cable box is not grounded correctly. To fix this you need a AC Plug adapter. This will change your TV ac plug from a 3 wire to a 2 wire. This may sound funny, but trust me on this. I have fix a lot of TV in NY doing just this.24001fc.jpg
