Follow this steps and fix it.

  • Check power problems if the console on the elliptical machine does not light up. Make sure that the plug for the machine is secure in the outlet. If it is plugged in, ensure that the outlet is receiving power. Check the breaker to make sure it has not tripped off.
Be sure that you are using the correct adapter that came with the elliptical machine. Because different adapters are able to handle differing amounts of energy, the wrong adapter will not transfer electricity like it should. If the adapter is pinched or damaged, this could also alter its effectiveness.

Make sure the correct adapter is being used if the resistance settings seem to be too hard or too easy. If the correct adapter is being used, reset the machine. To reset the machine, either switch the "On/Off" button or unplug the machine from the wall. Doing this will allow the device to reset itself to the default resistance. Turn on or plug the device back into the wall and retry all of the levels of resistance.

Life FItness elliptical model X7 has too much resistance on startup. Prevents use for warming up.

It sounds like the resistance on your Life Fitness X7 elliptical is set too high for the machine to be used effectively as a warm-up tool. There are a few things you can try to adjust the resistance on the machine.
  • Check the user manual that came with the elliptical to see if there are any specific instructions for adjusting the resistance.
  • Check the resistance settings on the dashboard to ensure that they are set to the correct level.
  • Check the resistance adjustment knob or lever to ensure that it is not stuck or jammed in place.
  • Check the belt tension on the elliptical to ensure that it is not too tight.
  • Check to ensure that there is no debris or dust in the resistance mechanism.
  • If the issue still persists after trying the above steps, it may be best to contact Life Fitness technical support or consult a technician for further assistance.
It is also a good idea to inspect the machine overall for any damage or wear.
If all else fails, the used elliptical may have a defect or may not be compatible with your needs. You may need to consider purchasing a new one or a different model for your clients warm-up needs.

Resistance too high

Be aware that the resistance is often the part that requires repair. Resistance is managed magnetically, so often if the machine is working, but the resistance isn't setting correctly or at all, check the bolts that secure the magnets. If they are loose, the resistance will slip. If the bolts are fine, check the magnets themselves by using a refrigerator magnet and see if it is attracted or repelled by the your fridge magnet. If not, the magnets have de-magnetized and need to be replaced.

Hand Sensors Don't Work

If hand sensors are on are on a bar that was installed during assembly, the wires that connects the sensor to the console probably didn't get plug in during assembly. To check this, see if the part with the sensors can be removed. If so the wire conection is usually at the point where you connect the sensor bar or handle to the machine. If they are made onto the console then you will probably have to remove the back of console. Pass this point just a visual check for obvious disconnection only. In not obvious don't touch anything else call an expert.
