I'm am new at this forum. Please help. I've purchased occasionally second hand PJ Panasonic PT-AE3000. Picture is absolutely pale - not enough brightness. I've replaced the bulb, but this didn't help. I also have PT-AE2000 that I use for the last year, and the picture there is much better. What can it be?

was this bought new or second hand?
There is a "Lamp Time" setting that can be accessd using your remote control, check this setting.
Look on page 40 and after that of your manual about ambient temperature bulb failure.
By powering off or hittign the reset button the bulb should stay on IF the projector is gettign a signal from a device to show an image. If the projector is not hooked up to a device, laptop, TV, etc. the bulb may turn off to save hours of operation.

If you want just the bulb and not the complete lamp, try http://www.lumenarc.co.uk.

This is a serious issue and It seems as though you have got a defective peice. Either the PJ was damaged when in transit or it was a faulty piece. The PJ could have a defective lamp because if it is trying to trip off on loading , then the chances are that the Lamp is taking intoo much current and tripping off the circuit. Since your PJ is brand new, if it is under warranty , you must take the privilege of free replacement of the part, than to try any repairs. What could be done is to check again for power connections faulty voltage. If not since the trouble shooting was ably done there is not much to check than to take this decision. You must ask them to give you extended warranty and claim for damages if they seems unhelpful. Hope you decide with my advice. Good day
