I put my ds r4 chip in my ds and it said couldnt find r4 sd card then my dad got my sisters sd card and the computer and dowloaded the suite life of Zack and cody tipton trouble on to my ds.Then I switched my ds on and then it said couldnt find ds data menu.

it is probably because your sister has a different version of R4. They are the same things, but your sister might have an earlier version than you do. This is because, some versions dont work with some ds lites while others do.
unrar it, copy to root of sd card, create a folder called roms and copy roms inside.
remember to copy these same files from the rar to all sd card you will use. the r4 don't have the system inside it, the system file need tobe in the sd.
If you updated you DSI firmware to 1.4, nintendo have stopped the use of flash cards in the uodate, i got my r4 through the post 4 days ago and i had already updated to 1.4 and get the same message. So far i haven found any help with rolling back to 1.3 or getting an update for the r4i software to work. Lets hope it happens soon!
In short you DSi is Not broken, its just been updated to 1.4.
This may be fo a number of reasons. First of all this may be because the connections are not clean. So wipe the connections on the R4 card if neccesary. If this doesn't work unscrew your R4 card and place a small piece of paper underneath the chicp. This will raise the connection ribbons and make better contact with the ds. Next you should make sure your card is not corupted. Install the latest firmware. Hope this helps.
you have to download the special codes to the R4 micro sd card. Its on a disc so don't worry, it comes with the R4 package. you put your micro sd card inside the hard drive, with the usb 2.0. Then after the disc is done loading go to system 1.1, pick a language and then highlight everything. Copy, Paste to you flash drive thing. After you just put it back in the R4 revolution and then "cool i did it"
the normal ds does work with the original ds, i have 3. lol. the r4 cart goes in the top of the ds in slot 1, it obviously about the same size as the r4 cart, have ur ds so it facinf downwards to the ground, and insert the game facing upwards so you can see the r4 wording on it, slot all way in until it clicks in, then power up.
You have to put the R4 v1.18 kernel on the memory card for it to work. R4 web site is http://r4ds.cn/ In the download section is the r4 manual follow that and you should be ok.
