My girlfriend and I moved into a new apartment and she has a desktop PC and I have a laptop. Up until a few days ago, everything was working fine. I connected the modem to the wireless router and connected her computer to that. There were no problems. She had interne, and I could pick up my wireless network. A few days ago, we had a cable outage. Ever since then, we have had problems. Whether or not that was the cause or just coincidence, I dont know. The problem now: Initially, we couldn't connect at all, with or without the router. She talked to the local comcast tech, and he went through the normal check-up tasks and said that the problem must be with the computer and he couldn't help us. The next day however, she has no problem connecting, when the modem is directly connected to the computer. When I connect the modem to the router, her computer will no longer connect. On my laptop, I can see my router name at full signal, however I cannot connect to it. I would assume that the problem has to be in the router, but I don't know what to do. I don't understand why it would work perfect for a couple of weeks and then just fail on us. Does anyone have a clue what is going on here? I am going insane! I just received my new laptop today, and that cannot connect to it either, although it recognizes it is there and at full strength. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Josh

Sometimes routers just lock out, type in your web browser 192.168.2.1, this wil take you to the password section of your router, unless you have one just press the enter button. Look for the dhcp setting and ensure its enabled as it may not give you access to the net. If you need to on the left there is a restart router button, this will restart the router, but not loose any settings. If all else fails, unplug the router and reconnect or press the reset button on the back for a return to factory settings. I have having the same problem although i know all is well at my end, generally if the ADSL/cable light or link light is flashing or not lit and the internet (planet icon) you can bet it's your isp's line fault. The signal you are getting is the wireless signal which indicates your immediate wireless network is functional, but if all the lights apart from the lan cable connection lights aren't lit your not on the net.
