I have a home touch garment steamer. I plugged it in, the on/off switch is lit, and the reset button is also lit. I pushed in the reset button, but it doesn/t do anything. Usually when I pushed the reset button, it went off and it was ok to use. What can I do?

The problem is the thermostat (NC 150 C). A replacement is available at Digikey.com, item R2015025 (part no. 317-1468-ND) It's a simple replacement with the bottom removed.
That really isn't the correct replacement because it does not have a reset button, so it will automatically reset over and over. here is the replacement part that duplicates the original. Part number 05EN1034(150/C), stock number 68C2874 at Newark.
I cant find the part on the website, can someone send a link to it please.

As crazy as this sounds, I had the same thing happen to me and I couldnt fix it, and I was about to throw the steamer out until as a last resort i hit the base of the steamer really hard right on the reset button with a shoe, and Voila! it worked. Now every time I want to steam i have to smack the reset button really hard, pressing it does not work. I dont know how long this will last, but at least I can use it now!!
That advice was solid gold! Worked EXACTLY as stated. Will hit base with shoe again.

The thermostat is the problem, I used aew3656's solution and took care of the same problem on my steamer, just take out the damaged thermostat and use it as a sample to get a new one from any electroncs supply store, BTW dont forget to buy thermal grease, it helps dissipate the heat so your steamer won't overheat, and the thermostat wont't go off every 2mins.
I read all the above commments. My steamer reset button wouldn't work so I hit it with my hand rather hard right over the reset button and steam started right back up!!! Weird!!!
We opened it up and it turns out that from using regular tap water and letting the water sit long after use, the wrong parts have gotten so badly corroded that even if the thermostat was replaced, the wrong parts would still overheat and the reset button would kick in anyway.
A friend did something so that it no longer registers with the thermostat, so it should be usuable again, with a lot of caution though!
So now, I can use it again for short periods of time, with distilled water and promptly turned off and unplugged immediately after and water removed when not in use.
Mind did the same thing.....just stopped working. Remove the hose and pour CLR or Lime Away in hole also pour some in hole where water tank goes. Let sit overnight and flush out. Then buy yourself a large bottle of distilled water for future steaming.

Use shoe.. a hammer is rather hard.

Jus remove thermostat, remove rust on both parts, set thermostat back and ready, it worked on mine. Dont forget umplogge the power cord first.
Thank you Saul! I took the thermostat apart and there was salt between the thermostat and the contact point. I have a water softener and salt built up and clogged the reset button so the reset button stayed on. Once I took it apart,scraped the salt and minerals from both contact points and figured out how the reset button worked it worked! From now on...only distilled water and I'll empty it when not in use.
Saul, thanks for your suggestion. This worked for me. There was lime or scale build-up preventing contact on the underside of the thermostat/auto-shutoff switch. we will only be using distilled water from now on. I do not believe the instructions suggest it.

I've been cleaning mine all night with vinegar and water like the manual said. Still didn't work. Saw that the reset light was on and couldn't get it to go away. Smacked it with a shoe works perfectly fine!
