Canon Powershot A630 flash not working

My flash has stopped working. I got it on for a night the other day, but since it will not work again. The orange light up front comes on and the camera just focuses and sits there. It works fine if I use it with no flash, though this is not optimal most of the time. Is there something wrong with my flash, my camera, or did the setting maybe just get jumbled somehow????? Please help, I love my camera. Thanks bunches, Sarah

Well i did some scouting and this is what i came up with on canon's site - http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=SuprtKnowledgeBaseAct&fcategoryid=113&modelid=14108 - in the question box put flash and hit search - the first result should give you your answer. hope this solves your problem.

Canon PowerShot A630. How do you take the back off the screen of a Canon A630 camera please?

Question edited to add full make and model.
Question moved from Dishwashers to Canon PowerShot A630.

Personally, I would send it to Canon for professional service. It may just be a problem with insufficient battery milliamps.

My camera is several years old. The flash stopped working. I replaced the batteries. Any ideas?

Here are some simple things to try first for a camera that won't take a picture when the shutter button is pressed, or with an inoperative flash. They won't work for every case, but they're worth a try:

Powershot A630 powers on just fine, however the LCD screen is black and will not work...

There is a display button on the back, you may have inadvertently shut off the lcd. Cycle the button to check.

Camera (power shot A630) will not take picture

Did you have the camera exposed to a damp place for a duration like over night or a cold place and brought it in a warm place where it would fog up the lenses unnoticeably

Canon powershot A630 blinking flash graphic

You have to unscrew the left side of the camera (if you're looking at the back of the camera, the side that is right beside the flash). Then, at the very top, with a tiny screw driver, just gently tap the black flash compartment and it should work after that. I've had the flash problem twice in the past year and both times I got it to work again by taping on it. Hope it helps!
