try to boot it like that. If that does not work you might have a bad power adapter or even a burned motherboard. We do not know unless you try these things.
Well just because you get no video boot does in no way mean its the video card in fact its about 90% that it is not the ATI card unless you have a bad motherboard. I would be looking at some of the known issues with the HP laptop blackscreen problems. Utube has a some interesting people getting around and fixing this issue in different ways.
Does it boot to the windows screen. By pressing f12 or f2 whatever your machine requires while booting will take you into the bios. Inside the bios you can run all sorts of tests to see what the problem is.
Try to unplug all the PCI cards and boot, if its still doing it check the ram. If its still doing it check to see if the power supply is good. If all that fails, It could be eather a bad mother board or bad processor.
