If you're going to replace the remote, I would advise replacing it with an original Element remote. Finding a universal remote to work with Element TVs is purely trial and error - in many cases error!

I can help you to find either a replacement original remote or a universal that will work with your TV, but before doing so, you really need to check whether it's the remote that needs to be replaced. When TVs fail to respond to the remote control, it can be due to a fault with the infra-red (IR) receiver in the TV. Before buying a replacement, please test your remotes as follows:

1. Get someone to point the remote at you and press some buttons while you look through the viewfinder of a digital-camera or camera-phone. You should be able to see white flashes from the end of the remote through the viewfinder. This works better in a darkened room but it needs to be light enough for the digital camera to function.

If you don't have a camera-phone or digital camera . . .

2. Take the remote into a dark room - totally black works best. Point the end of the remote which you point at the TV towards you and press some buttons. You should be able to see faint red flashes emitted from the end of the remote. This is not to be confused with the indicator light near the top of many remote which illuminates when you press a button.

If the remote is working, it may still be possible to get the TV to respond again. Please try this first and let me know the results of the test.
