I've had my camera for several years now and all of a sudden my flash quit working. The camera still takes the pictures but there is not light ommitted from the flash bulbs. I've tried adjusting the flash settings but it doesn't no appear to have any effect on the flash. HELP I'M SO FRUSTRATED.

-Courtney I have a Canon Powershot SD1000, and my flash suddenly stopped working. I have restored all settings but nothing seems to work. Even when I put the flash setting to "On" instead of auto, it still does not work. Maybe the bulb is broke? Please help!

You are correct in saying that the bulb needs to be replaced. Take the camera to any camera shop and they will replace it for you.

My camera rebel xti flash will not work all of a sudden, what could be the problem and how may I fix it?

Does the flash pop up when you try to take a picture in low light in the Green Box Mode? If the flash does not pop up the problem may just be that something sticky is keeping it down. If it pops up but does not fire, the problem is usually either a bad flash tube or the wiring to the flash has broken where the flash head pivots up and down.
When the flash is fully charged the capacitor retains a voltage of over 300 volts even when the camera is turned off and the battery is removed. I've seen several cameras where the owner tried to repair the flash and ended up burning out the entire Main PC Board.

The flash on my camera suddenly stopped working. Sometimes it flashes, sometimes it doesnt. Pictures look better when flash is OFF.

Hello. I also have the same problem as yours - about the flash not working so well. Have you ever gotten a solution to it? Oh, I also had the same camera, Kodak M531. Please tell me if you've already gotten a solution to it. Thank you.

I've had the Samsung L200 with the same Panasonic 1GB memory card for the last 3 years and it's been great, but all of a sudden today it started saying 'memory full' after only taking a few...

The camera is telling you that the internal memory is full. To get your card to work, you must clear it. With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory. Then, your card should work unless you formatted it in the computer, in which case you'll have to format (completely erases it) it in the camera.

Black pictures when using flash

The black images with flash mean that the Iris mechanism in the lens is not working properly, and that needs a professional camera repair service.

Camera won't take picture

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

U4--what does this mean?

U1-U9: these are technician codes indicating that there is a malfunction in the zoom mechanism of your camera, most likely electronic in nature - a defective IC chip and/or bad circuit board. Repair cost would easily exceed the value of the camera. You should be aware that, just as with today's small digital cameras, both mechanics and electronics of smaller point-and-shoot 35mm cameras consist for the most part of light-duty plastic and fragile electronics. If they last a couple of years they're doing well.
