My garage door is a chamberlain lift master. We had to pull the latch and manually close it last week. When I opened it, my super-strength:) threw it open too fast and I think I threw off the main drive piece. Anyway, when I shut it now, it moves too far and closes completely, but then reopens. How can I move that metal piece that the latch attaches to? It is very secure and I don't want to start prying at it. Is there a trick?

No need to - the unit has adjustments to control where the door stops on closing. You need to back off a tad on the closing setting so that the door stays closed.

SOURCE: Chamberlain Garage Door Opener will not close door

It is most likly your sensors You should not have to mess with your force settings but I can help you with your sensors assume you have checked to make sure there both looking at each other. First close the door so you can see them better. Tap each one of the sensors to see if any of the lights are flickering. if your then you need to tight them up and try again. Also when its dusk or night close your garage door and look at the lights see if one of the tracks is shaking sensor. If not check the wires make sure there is not staple or cuts in them. Then last thing you can check see if your door is hitting the back of the sensor mount it does happen. Also remove and ropes or handles you have fromt eh buttom of the door. That should take care of the problem. Make another post if your still having problems

If you have to hold down the button to close the door, you are bypassing the sensors ...

How do i fix garage door that wont open or close?

You have to make sure the trolley on the drive engages with the catch on the door. You may have to lift the door to the point it will engage while you are running the trolley in the close mode. Check that the trolley latch is open and ready to engage the catch. There is usually a rope to pull on to do this.

My Lift Master Formula 1 is not closing all the time. It will close about 1~2 feet the reverse and reopen. This happens using the remote and the manual button. Also, after it reopens the light blinks...

I recommend this to everyone with garage door opener problems:

Use the pull cord and disconnect the opener from the door. Operate the opener and let the carrier slide back away from the door. Is the carrier moving smoothly when disconnected? Next, lift the door by hand from the bottom to the top. Is it moving smoothly? If not, lubricate the hubs of all the rollers on both sides of the door. Check the cable pulleys at the top sides of the door channel, lubricate them as well. Are all cables in all the pulleys, there are 4.

The lightbulb in the unit burns out quickly, every 4-6 weeks. I have Lift Master 1/3 H.P. FCC ID #HBW1127, Part #41A4252-7D

You can buy bulbs designed for garage door openers. They are heavier duty. Also you should unplug the unit and remove the light bulb. Pull out on the center contact of the socket. Replace the bulb and plug the unit in.

Chamberlain Lift Master Pro Formula 1 only makes click sound

Is the door stuck in the open position? If so the trolley is probably jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor unit. Loosen the chain enough to free the trolley and then run the opener until the door is closed. While the door is closed locate the 'up limit' on the side of the motor unit and turn this control 2 complete turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Tighten the chain.

I have a Chamberlain 1265 Lift-Master Professional. Does that model still exist or if not, what has replaced it. Also who carries it

I know that that is a lift-master opener. chamberlain owns lift-master. but if its a new opener your looking for try the lift-master 3800 jack shaft opener. it features a low profile design that mounts next to the door instead of on the ceiling above the door, and also incorporates a battery backup so that you will never be locked out again.

Garage Opener Model 3255 Chamberlain Lift Master

The most common cause of this problem is a bad wall control the wiring going to it. You can eliminate both temporarily by removing the wire at terminal 1 on the back of the motor unit. The wiring sometimes is shorted by the staples the installer uses. The wall control gets used a lot.

Won't Close

Remove power from the opener. Then, pull the red release rope and manually lift open the door. It should move with little effort. Next, pull the door halfway down and let go. The door should stay where you left it. If it fails either test, the door lift springs need replacement or adjustment. If it works ok, follow the proceedure in the owners manual for adjusting the up and down limit sensors, and the emergency reverse adjustment.
