You are referring to the green led light on the front of the machine that tells you the brush is rotating? this is operated by a small magnet on the brush roll, when rotating it generates a small current to bring the light on. Remove the brush roll and check for damage behind the green led inside the case, also check for the magnet on the brush roll, ensure it is not missing and the brush roll is in the correct way round, magnet needs to be at green led end (ie to the left)
Magnet is fitted flush within the brush roll close one end and is around 6mm 1/4" diameter.
Green light not working will not affect the machine in any way.

SOURCE: Kirby Ultimate won't clean carpet

when you install the hose connector it trips a switch that switches the vac motor into high speed because the vac path is longer using the hose. check the belt after you remove the front. make sure the direction of rotation is in the direction of belt travel stamped in the impeller. try adjusting the head height

No suction from my kirby sentria

I just took a stiff piece of coax cable, and took the bag off where it attaches to the main unit, and took the head off ( the part with the brush roll in it) AMD cleaned every thing really well, turning the spindle for the fan while " snaking" it and pulled out a baby sock! Ta-Da! Works like New.

I have the ultimate G The belt is on, new bag, vacuum runs but no roller rotation and minimal if any suction????

On the right side of your vacuum head, there is a green belt indicator light. If when the unit is powered on and this light is not lighting up, you have a broken belt, or you didnt properly latch the belt in place.

a) Broken belt- you can use the belt from your shampoo'er if you have one, otherwise your nearest Kirby distributor has them for a couple bucks

b) As for the suction, the Kirby has 2 motors. 1 motor is for the cleaning of the floor, the other motor (where you see the vent on the left side) is for keeping the unit cool to expand the life, which btw average life of a kirby is 20yrs and they all come with a lifetime refurbishing plan. If your not getting any suction check the boot of the bag where it hooks onto the unit for any clogging

I have the ultimate g kirby. the green the brush doesnt spin when i turn it on and the belt is on correctly. whats the problem

You will find videos at this site that might be of help to you.

If the brush does not spin you probably should remove it and clean well. Also, on each end of the brush you will find a holder that keeps the brush in the unit. These should turn freely around the brush. If they do not, clean and add a bit of WD40 then manually spin the holders around the brush and reinstall.
Please contact me if these suggestions do not work for you.

No suction at all on my Kirby just cleaned the brush, etc... had a hard time getting the belt back on... really hate this vacuum cleaner

I have a kirby Diamond series and the 'green light' on the upper right side (while standing behind the vaccum) does not come on and when it doesn't come on I noticed that it does not sound as though it is picking up at all. I have changed the belt, placed a new bag in it and made sure that there is no clogs. What else could it be?

My Kirby Ultimate G does not have enough suction to pick up pet hair. Is there anyway this can be corrected? I felt under the vacuum when it was running, the roller is running, but I felt very little...

An Ultimate G has lots of suction. If you turn on your vacuum and the bag immediately inflates - that is how you can tell if your Kirby is moving air (suction). There is a more modern brush that came out with the Ultimate G Diamond and the Sentria that has stiffer bristles that dig up pet hair better.

Another way to test the suction is to spread some baking soda onto a hard floor and vacuum it up - you can see how much suction your Ultimate G has, or take off the vacuum head and put on a hose and test the suction at the end of the tube.

Ways to increase your Ultimate G cleaning efficiency. Take off the vacuum head and remove the brush roller. Attach your hose attachment and **** vacuum out the head. Put on a new belt, and remove any hair and or string or threads that may be wrapped around the brush roller. Put the roller back on and on the ends of your roller you will see that the ends spin and have numbers on them. If your vacuum brushroll is original - you could have your bristles rather worn and so you can align the #3 on BOTH sides of the brushroller. This would be a good time to consider upgrading to the Sentria Brush.
Remove the bag, and replace with the CLOTH Kirby bag. It has the best filtration and it has the best airflow (which increases what you are referring to as suction). If you want to go the cheap route - at least get the paper Micron Magic with HEPA filtration (but it has slightly less air flow)
Remove the side mini emptor from the vacuum and check to see if there is anything clogged up on either the vacuum or the mini-emptor.
If your engine is running and inflating the bag and you replace the belt, the brush roller and to the cloth dust bag - your vacuum should pretty much run like a brand new Sentria Vacuum. Your vacuum system is outstanding, but may benefit from a little TLC if you have been neglecting it.

Kirby generation 3 won't vacuum. It runs and

You may have suction but if the belt is worn the roller brush won't spin and therefore won't pick up anything. You can get a replacement belt here:

Kirby Sentria doesn't pick up visible dirt

As far as picking up - I suspect that your belt is not properly installed. Watch the video manual HERE. in the first halve of the video there is an instruction how to properly instal nozzle.

You have to turn the bag about 30-40 degrees countercloclwise so plastic protrusions on the tube top adater (ones that keep bag attached to the tube) will allign with cuts in bag cardbort so you can pull the bag off the adapter. If you will take a look at the new bag - you will see what I am talking about.

No suction on kirby g4 upright vacuum. Can't use attchments.

First remove the mini-emptor and check for a clog also check the fan for anything cloging that or the hose may be clogged
