SOURCE: Device not working

Most of the time when you get error messages like this it is due too drivers. Now in order to determine this issue I need to know what type of computer you have, OS installed on it, how old the PC etc. Please advise!

SOURCE: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20L ATA Device

ok you can do two things to fix it

first of all go to start
go to run
type regedit and hit ok
now in the registry go to this path

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

and remove both upper and lower filters from the right pane

now close the registry editor.

reboot the computer and see if that fixed it or not

if not the download the drivers from this website.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=3224052&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us#

just select the operating system that u have and then download it and reinstall the driver and then reboot the computer

that should be it

if still not working then i guess its a hardware issue

cheers

SOURCE: WD Elements USB drive not recognized

Try going to Disk Management and see if they show up there.

  1. Click Start
  2. Right Click My Computer
  3. Click Manage
  4. Click Disk Management
If your computer is recognizing a mass storage device they should show up in disk management and you can just assign them a drive letter.

Testimonial: "Brilliant solution. Worked like a charm. Thx."

DVD RAM change to CD Rom when i inset a disc

Check your computer drivers for that drive. It may be a driver error. It has happened to me before and I fixed it by reinstalling the drivers. It should be a software issue if you can still read CD disks.

I have thinkpad T61 it was loaded with vista. It

what kind of media are you loading? is this a DVD or a program disc? If this is a DVD disc, try loading a music CD or other type of disc to see if it is recognized. If so, its possible your PC DVD is unable to recognize that specifc type of DVD. Try other DVD's which you know worked before using Vista. Even though your machine says the device is working properly, check the Lenovo website for updated drivers for the DVD and the board chipset. Let me know if updating the drivers does not work. Meanwhile, I'll see if I can find out any more information from Lenovo.

dvd burners or rom drive have 2 lens inside, one for DVD read, the other for cd read. I see it often where one fails out in the drive but the other works. With one working fine and the other not, I would replace the drive. If still under warranty send it to manufacturer. Hi,
i cant get you. cd/dvd is not working or cd/dvd rom drive is not working ? To work cd/dvd rom drive properly, Make sure the Jumper settings of the drive is set to slave or else remove all the jumpers from the cd/dvd rom drive, it automatically sets to slave. Dvd/cd-rom not working

From the desktop, right click on My Computer and select Properties. In the System Properties, browse to the Hardware tab and select Device Manager.

In there, expand DVD/CD-ROM Drives and right click on the appropriate hardware and select Uninstall. Click on OK when prompted.

Reboot the computer. After entering the desktop environment, the computer should start installing the drivers for the DVD/CD-ROM automatically (after startup applications are registered).

Hope this helps :) Kindly leave a rating. Thanks..

Not reading DVD

It's common problem with combo drives in notebooks, they don't seem to last long. Try this:- Go to my computer>properties>hardware>device manager and look down the list for your cd/dvd drives and click the '+' sign then highlight your dvd drive and right click to delete. Restart the pc and windows will find the drive again automatically and install the drivers. If the problem persists the laser is faulty in the drive and the drive will need to be replaced.
