GE Microwave Profile Spacemaker Runs on its own

The oven just turned on by itself while boiling a pot of water on the stove below and we could not turn it off. Had to pull the plug. Tried Stop - Clear and it kept running.

Your microwave turning on by itself is a "self preservation feature" of the GE Profile Advantium and maybe some other models. Read the manual, When your over the range oven gets warm enough, for whatever reason the venting fan comes on until a satisfactory oven temperature is reached. You are not permitted to shut the vent fan off. Also it seems a temperature near room temp must be achieved before it shuts the fan motor off, it is very annoying. We had to return our Advantium because of fan noise. I configured the ovens vent fan to the recirculate direction because we do not have a vent duct that exits the house over our range. When the vent fan acting as the ovens cooling fan automatically turned on we would have to leave the house to hear each other talk. Too bad we really liked the oven other than that major problem. The microwave quit working. I could still use the timer and the fan. After a year, I had a pot of water boiling on the right back burner of my cook top and the microwave exhaust fan came on. I could not...

I think a bad connection in a lucar styl plug is the problem.
Check all of the connectors that come from the switch/control pannel and the magnetron's transformer.
Make certain that it is not still charged up at a lot of voltage in the capacitor is lethal!!!!

Cleaning vents

GE Spacemaker Profile X1800.

I would take out the grills and boil them, but cannot see how to do that.

Also, the GE stove top (Model JGSP44BEY) has so much baked on crud that I may never use it. I poured a whole bottle of easy off onto it and still cannot loosen it all. Same goes for the removable parts from the burners.

2 year old ge profile spacemaker Microwave lost all power

Inside unit is a cylinder fuse which can blow for a number of reasons. External cover needs to be removed to access. If you are confident in doing this and can find & check the fuse then it would be my first guess. If fuse is OK then you will need to have repaired. If fuse isblown & you replace then it blows again, you will need to have repaired. regards
