It may not have seized there may be a very small piece of thread jammed in the raceway area, you need to take the bobbin case and the raceway out to check

SOURCE: Needle not going up and down on necchi 544

There should be a button in the balance wheel on the left side of the machine. Not sure on your model, but most of the Necchi's pull out and push in. That disenguages the needle arm to wind a bobbin. Some of them screw in or out, but generally pull out. You might try pulling it out and then pushing it back in, until it clicks. Then it should work fine.

SOURCE: I've got a Necchi 535FA with a bobbin thread that doesn't hook.

Sounds to me like you may have put the needle in backwards. The flat side should be to the back.

Hi! The motor pulley may be worn and cant turn properly causing the motor to be forced so much. The result will be an instant overheating that results to belt burn too. You will need to replace the motor, pulley and the belt now to make it running. Hope this helps and have a good one!

If it is an older mechanical machine, you are probably correct. It has probably seized due to lack of regular oiling and cleaning.

Necchi 4575 feed dogs won’t work does not push material through

If you raise the presser foot, set the stitch length to a 3 or higher, then slowly press the foot control, can you see the feed dogs rise, move backward, then drop and come forward again? If they are not moving, the feed dogs have seized. If they are moving but do not rise above the needle plate, then you have them disengaged.

If they are seized, resist the temptation to run the machine anymore until you can get it serviced. It could damage the motor causing more repair cost.

If they are disengaged (dropped), then you need to find the control lever or dial that engages them.

The needle displacement lever on my Bernina Favorit 740 will not stay in the center position. It sews in the right or left needle position but the zigzag won't go across the entire width.

I have a 730 (Record) but the mechanism is the same.
There is a spring loaded positioning 'finger' that pushes against a shaped 'rest' to keep it in place, and over time these seize up. Yours has probably seized while pushed in, meaning it doesn't hit the rest at all. I've attached a picture with a red arrow showing the finger.
You need to get it freed to get it to work again. Every 1960s Bernina I've seen has had the finger stuck in the central position, as well as having the positioning dial also seized, so it could be a lot worse :-)

Even if not your particular model, basic machine threading is very similar from one to another. Just be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the top thread---and change the needle often.

My machine is currently seized up with a baby quilt on it. The needle is down all the way and will not budge. When I depress the foot pedal or turn the wheel, it sounds like it's going to take off a

Undo tthe needle to raise the needle arm ...this will allow you to get under and carefully cut away the jam....there really is no easy way, and you may have already damaged the fabric if it is in the feed teeth, so be slow and gentle.

I have a Necchi 3205 Royal series machine. I was sewing denim and it jambed and bent the needle. I replaced the needle and now it won't pull the bobbin thread up. I have tried several different needles...

Hi, I've got a necchi sewing machine too, not the same model as yours.
you said you were sewing denim & the machine jamed & bent the needle, it's sounds like the machine is out of time, sometime it doesn't take much to get them out of time & would have to be serviced by a repair shop with the tools needed to fix the timing.
