I have a sanyo ds31590 with the chassis #31590-01 which has a horizontal line when you turn it on and no sound.

SOURCE: Sanyo DS31590 31" TV vertical deflection

If the vertical is not defective or shorted there is a possiblity of bad solder connections on the vertical ic. If connections are good and has b+ voltage to the chip replace chip which is IC 501 LA7841 or LA7845 and change c511 (decimal point 1 film capacitor)

If you do not have cable or satellite YES you will need converter box anyone and everyone that uses antenna to watch tv needs converter Box.

Maybe you´ve cracked solder joints on the vertical Ic and need to resolder it

hi..hope this help you....a horizontal line in the center is an indication of defective vertical IC...its looks like a tab w/ 10-12 pins and has heatsink...your TV would works out fine when you replace the IC....but its better if let a technician replace this....pls. don't forget to rate and vote....thanks...

My SANYO TV24'' when powered on,only a bright horizontal light appeared after 3sec dissapered,no sound,no more picture.
your tv has suffered horizontal collapse this is not a cheap repair it contains most major parts of the power section

Picture will suddenly get horizontal lines then may only get a bright horizontal line in the middle of the screen. I can rap the top of the set and the problem may go away, but it returns again at a later...

Line across picture tube
Had the same problem with mine. The vertical hold chip broke loose from the solder,Resoldered it works fine. You will need a magnifying glass to see this on the bottom of the board.

Tv not working
this symptom, sometimes called the tube light effect, it is characterised by a bright thin horizontal line across the middle of the screen. this symptom is caused by a breakdown in the vertical deflection circuit. hence maybe the trouble maybe in the vertical oscillator, amplifier or output circuits. but if all i have said is not clear to you, better bring it to a qualified tv technician. good luck!
