photosmart d5160 - stopped in the middle of printing a cd. red exclamation point. printer turns itself on, can't keep it powered off unless I pull the cord. can't print anything including test page or diag. I am not directly usb connected. Instead I am connected via network through a usb external jetdirect. therefore, the support software/diags don't work. This printer has an LCD. HP can't display a message instead of a stupid generic blinking light? nice...

Why am I getting only half page of a copied email. Plus I always get a blank sheet of page at the same time.

Are you talking about a page printed from a printer or something on your screen? I need some more information before I can help you. It does sound like you are describing a printer problem and if it is, does this happen when you try to print anything else?

I have an HP C7280 AIO printer. Everytime I print, it always form feeds a blank page bewteen each printed page (print page 1, form feed a blank page, print page 2, form feed a blank page, and so on).

Generally, there are printer set up programs that will let you chose to put a blank sheet or to not do that. If you have a disk or manual, look for the set up utility and go thru the tabs to find paper handling or something similar to that. There should be a check box you can clear to stop the blank page.

I hope that this information was helpful. Have a great day.

The printer is feeding a blank sheet of paper between printed sheets. How do I rectify this?

This causes the printable area on the page to be that much less (10 3/4 or 10 1/2 on an 11 inch page). The software thinks the paper is 11 inches long and keeps track, down to the micro inch, where it is on the paper. When it reaches the 10 1/2 inches, your printer calls the page done and ejects it. However, the software thinks there is still another 1/2 inch to print (usually the footer area). Now when you insert a new sheet of paper, the software finishes printing the rest of the page (normally a blank footer) and form feeds to the next sheet. To correct what the software thinks the paper size is, you need to run the Preferences application and change the default settings. Select the Printer button. In the next window, select the 'Change Defaults....' button. Change both the Document size and the Paper size to a height of 10.875 and click OK. Try a new document to see if the paper size is correct. You may need to go back and change the height a few times until it is correct (the height changes in .125 increments). Usually either 10.875 (for 1/4 inch forced top margin printers) or 10.75 ( for 1/2 inch forced top margin printers) will work.

How do i make double sided copies for my HP 2840

When you call up your printer (usually [Ctl][P]) tell it to print even numbered pages only, but in reverse order, This means the last page to be printed will be page 2, and it will be face down on the top of the pile (blank side showing) Take the printed sheets and rotate them so the top (head) of the sheet is feeding back into the machine, with the blank sides up. Now call your print up again and tell it to print the odd pages only. The first sheet to be printed will be page 1 which will print on the blank side of page 2, and all the rest will follow in sequence, with the correct sides up. Works every time. The print control is part of the Windows system, so your application should provide the full functionality.

Print issues

Look at the fuser, and see if you can see a bad area on the fuser roller, matching the position on the paper. I suspect a bad fuser. Fusers need to be replaced periodically, and typically via a maint kit which replaces several feed rollers as well.. How many pages have been printed.. Print a config sheet to display this information.
