Most RCA and GE TV sets use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The code reset procedure is different depending on the model. Try each method until you find one that works:
1. Hold down MENU on the remote and VOLUME DOWN on the TV it's self at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked
2. Hold down the 0 on the remote and the VOLUME DOWN buttons on the TV its self at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked
3. Hold down the MENU button on the front of the TV and the TV button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds.
4. Hold down GO BACK on the remote and MENU on the front of the TV at the same time for at least 4 seconds.
5. Hold down EJECT on the front of the TV and the MENU button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds.
Depending on the model, one of the methods should unlock the V-chip. Now, if desired, you can change the settings on the V-chip by going to the MENU and going to PARENTAL CONTROLS, or on some sets, going to MENU and then going to TV SETUP, then to V-CHIP SET.

Hello
Without its original remote control, opening the FPA lock of RCA will be difficult. Just try to get one new remote for this set or jut borrow it from any of your friends or relatives who own the same model set, just to open its FPA lock. After opening lock, you can use your brighthouse remote. You can open the lock with one amoung the following procedure.

Most RCA sets use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The code reset is different depending on the model. Try each number until you find the one that works for you.

1. Hold down the MENU button on the remote and VOLUME DOWN button on the TV it's self at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked

3. Hold down the MENU button on the front of the TV and the TV button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds. 4- Hold down GO BACK button on the remote and MENU button on the front of the TV at the same time for at least 4 seconds.

I have a rca tru flat tv and it keeps saying fpa lock on how do i shut it off

Need to know if you have the remote to be able to enter the setup menu for changing parental control. Here are the steps for getting in to turn the fpa lock to off. Not sure why it's so far down in the answer but scroll down for procedure.

Press MENU to see the main menu. Press CH+ or CH- to highlight Preferences. Press OK to enter the Preference submenu. Press CH+ or CH- to highlight Par. (Parental) Control. Press OK. Enter Password will appear on the screen. If you want to set a new code, go to steps 6-8 directly. (You can press the number buttons to enter a four-digit code. The code “0000” is the default password. If you have not set a code previously, then “0000” is the code.
