In general all appliances require a special bulb; your oven, refrigerator - the bulbs are designed for the service - extreme hot or extreme cold.
These bulbs are expensive.
watts=Amps X volts (W=IxV) so assuming your local voltage is120 Volts
watts/volts=amps so 40/120= 1/3 of an amp is the amount of current the light uses.
A 20 Amp breaker will support 2400 Watts with a 120 Volt line.
120 Volts times 20 Amps (Amperes) = 2400 Watts.
Answer? 24 100Watt light bulbs.
HOWEVER, you should always allow 1 cushion of 100 Watts. That would be 23 100Watt light bulbs.
(Wait until you add electric motors to the equation. Things start getting a little more complicated)
(I always use 20 amp breakers for lighting. 15 amp breakers for lighting is phased out.
Secondly a 20 amp breaker requires using 12-2 or 12-3 wiring. (12/2, 12/3) SO does the receptacles.
Therefore 12 gauge wiring is used throughout the house, until you come to the heavier loads )
[ 12/2 = 2 insulated conductors, and one bare copper ground wire. 12/3 = 3 insulated conductors, and one bare copper ground wire.
Remember, with 12/2 the Black wire is ALWAYS the Hot wire. White is Common (Neutral). Bare copper is Ground wire.

If you consider doing this the first thing is SHUT THE MAIN BREAKER OFF. Use an auxiliary light source to see when working in a dead panel. Always keep in mind an ARC FLASH ACROSS HOT MAINS HAS ENOUGH HEAT TO PEAL THE SKIN OFF OF YOU.
Before an explanation of how to do it you should keep in mind that this
is for a single receptacle only. If any other receptacles are on the
same circuit they will also be changed to 240 volt receptacles and if
you plug any 120 volt device into them, the 120 volt device will be
destroyed. That said OK, any 120 volt outlet can be changed to 240 volt
by removing the 120 volt circuits neutral, re identifying the white wire
with red or black phase tape and connecting it to a new 2 pole
15 amp breaker. The maximum that this circuit will now load up to is, on
#14 wire at 80% = 12 amps at 240 volts. The 120V receptacle must be
changed to a 15A - 240V receptacle so that 120 volt devices can not be
plugged into it. Never use 2 single pole breakers together because code
requires that on a fault trip both legs of the 240V circuit must be

What you want to remember when shopping for this bulb is T4 Mini Can Halogen bulb rated @ 75 watts, they should all be rated @ 120 Vots already as that is most outlets other than 220 Volts like a stove or dryer.
This generator is a 5KW model. This means it can supply up to 5000 watts of power, total. Not all devices list the watts they need to be provided - instead these devices list the power they need as volts and amps. This can make it hard to determine what the actual watt requirements are for the device.
Overly simplified, watts is equal volts times amps (watts = volts x amps). A single 120 volt light bulb that uses .833 amps consumes 100 watts. If you checked a regular 100 watt light bulb with an ammeter, you'd find it does indeed draw .833 amps.
Working the formula a different way, we can learn how many amps this 5000 watt generator can supply at 120 volts, too. If all the loads you need to connect to this generator are 120 volt types, that means the total amount of amps the generator can supply is 5000 watts / 120 volts = 41 amps purely resistive loads (like a toaster or light bulb) maximum under ideal conditions. There is never a time when ideal actually happens, and not all loads are purely resistive - many are inductive. Inductive loads are motors (like your A/C), fluorescent lamps, computer power supplies, etc. - so figure more like around 30 amps total instead.
If you try to connect devices that require more than 30 - 35 amps, the generator will probably have problems trying to supply this load for any longer that a short length of time. Additionally, motors like those in A/C compressors draw significantly more power when first starting and can cause the problem you are describing. Try running the generator with loads other then the A/C to see how well it can supply the load(s). Or try running only 1 A/C unit and other non-A/C loads.
What I'm trying to tell you is that you may need to do some active load management to be sure that you aren't trying to get more power out of the generator than it is capable of supplying. You may need additional generators or swap this one to a larger size to handle the load properly and safely.
