My cell phone will not power up. I have checked the battery voltage with a meter and it is 3.7V. It doesn't make any difference if it is connected to the charger, still won't power up. When I remove the battery and then replace it and hit the power button, the initial screen will come on for about 10 sec and then powers off again. Any suggestions?
I will suggest you get a replacement battery first, insert this and try powering your phone back up again.
Check to see if a friend uses your type of phone or that his/her cell phone uses same battery type as yours; then briefly swap.
This way, you'd be able to confirm whether its your cell phone battery that's bad.
In the event you confirm your cell phone battery is still OK, you may have to hard rest your cell phone in order to correct any error with the firmware as thongs stand at the moment.
Note of caution: hard reset wipes your phone clean of passwords, downloaded media, pictures, messages, etc.

I have the exact same problem with my E815 Motorola...only had a month or two, forgot to charge and battery went dead. Now moto screen comes on for about a second and dead? Try to get to boot loader, same thing...dead.....Bob

if you know any one that has the MPT 4.0 version you can uninstall the old version and reinstall the 4.0 or get updated usb drivers
SOURCE: Charging problem!!! PLEASE READ!
as i think that charger was not compatible to your phone so when you tried charging it the battery is dead bcoz of excess voltage than it normally bears with the compatible charger of ur phone ...
so this excess voltage has made the battery to be short circuited due to this may be the charging ic or the capacitor is gone ...
so i suggest you to take the cell to the near by technician and just have a check...
the only problem with all motorola phones is that it only charges with the charger with the desired voltage ... if the voltage of the charger is low then it will not show any response(i mean it will not charge but it will not cause any thing to battery as it is of less voltage than the desired voltage )
so i think the charger you buyed provides more than the desired voltage so the battery is dead .....

Get a replacement. It's that simple.

If you did not replace the firmware,or try and hack the phone then it just died. Nothing last forever. This just means that the light did not die, but the hardware that holds the firmware could have went bad.
You could contact moto and see if they will fix it cheaper than you
can get one off e-bay. You only have 8mo left till your contract runs out. Do not use the upgrade through the carrier,or you are getting robbed. Either wait till it runs out and start a new one or go to
www.wirefly.com, you can get the same exact contract through the same carrier but get a way lower price on the phone, unless the phone you want is free. You could have someone try and reflash
a new firmware on the phone, but I don't think that is the problem.
Hope moto does something for you.
