Trouble with TV Converter box, We've been picking up Fox 49.1, 49.2, 49.3 since they went digital 4 years ago. Why all of a sudden are we having trouble for over 2 weeks picking any of these channels up? Have unplugged the antenna, re-scanned, then plugged it back in and scanned these channels, they show up once in a while? Any idea's would be appreciated. When it good weather they try to come in, have moved the direction of my antenna which is at least 25 ft high. Thanks Margaret

SOURCE: I have a Westinghouse 26 inch TV.

I carried my Westinghouse TV to the basement. Unplugged the antenna from the digital converter box and connected it to my digital TV. I then re-scanned for channels and found channel 9. After carrying the Westinghouse TV back upstairs, I connected the original set-up and tuned to channel 9 which was now showing on the screen as no signal. From that point I moved my VHF dipoles until I had located the correct position for reception. A little labor intensive, but I was fortunate to have another antenna that was receiving channel 9.

SOURCE: built in tuner not working since digital transition

I do not know if you will get this message but if you do. Here goes. The protron PLTV3250 does indeed have a digital tuner that can be used with an over the air antenna. You need to push "source" on the remote until DTV is selected. With this selected and your coaxial cable from your antenna hooked up to the digital connector (not analog) on the back of this tv you can then press Menu and you will see a totally different looking menu that you are probably not used to seeing and then from there you can do an auto scan for the digital channels and it works great. I have rabbit ears hooked up to this Protron PLTV3250 and this has a beautiful picture. Far better than the picture I get from just the standard digital Directv receiver. You do not need a seperate digital tuner box to use with this TV. It does indeed have an ATSC digital tuner and it works great. You probably are selecting Source "TV" in the menu and that is not what you select for this TV to use the Digital Tuner. You need to select DTV from the source menu. Good luck and please let me know if you already knew this or if this helped you. Thanks, Tom

I have a RCA TV Model L46WD22YX5 it will not read any channels with an antenna, HELP!

The whole USA (years ago now) converted to digital TV signal format from analog (which is what your TV uses), this means that the TV will not pick up any channels without a digital to analog converter box, you can buy them very cheap on eBay.

I have an older Sharp Aquos TV - model # LC-32G4U. I am trying to connect a digital antenna but it doesn't work. Anyone know if I need a separate digital tuner for this TV? Or what else might be t

There is no difference between a "digital" and analog antenna. Either antenna will capture the signal. What you need is a digital converter box to convert the over air digital signal to the older analog type signal your TV needs. You connect the antenna to the digital converter box, and the digital converter box to the TV.
Several years ago, the US government forced peopel to buy digital converter boxes or newer TVs that could pick up the digital signal. Either get a digital converter box or a new TV.

I'm trying to hook up an indoor antenna to my polaroid flm-3232 do I need a digital converter box or does the tv have the necessary components?

You have an analog TV, meaning that the tuner in your TV is analog only. You must buy a digital converter to see broadcast Digital TV via your external antenna and it will be attached to the antenna input jack or other jack depending on how it comes out of the converter.

One bit of advice, there is no such thing as a "digital" antenna, they are all analog. Even a 50 year old, outside antenna aerial that you see out in the countryside will pick up the new Digital Broadcasts to be converted by a Digital Converter and displayed on a 50 year old TV.

I have an older Sanyo (approximately 8 years old) and my remote control is damaged (only the buttons/controls on the right side are working, volume turns up but not down, most of the left keys do nothing)....

If you are feeding the signal from your digital converter into the TV antenna input, I would input the converters signal to the TVs video input instead. I am assuming your converter has a video output signal and left & right audio so you will need cables for your audio also. If your converter has only rf output for the TV tuner input it is generally on either channel 3 or 4 and there may be a switch to set this. It is possible that when the TV scanned for channels the converter was off and it did not find a signal on 3 or 4. If you can get the TV to re-scan, be sure the converter is turned on and on an active channel. All your channel selection should be via the converter after that and the TV simply stays on 3 or 4. I would suggest looking in to getting the original remote. Try partstore.com and see if they have one for your model.

Do I need an HDTV converter box

If you are picking up only analog channels, you will need a converter box. You can pick a converter box up for $49 or $59 dollars at walmart or target. Best Buy is way overcharging if they are selling them at $100.

Is the tv that I have bought about 6 years ago ready for DTV?

6 year old tv probably not digital ready. The converter box will work if tv is on channel 3 and you use a UHF antenna. Most converter box connections have 75 ohm connectors, your tv may have the round connector to accept the input signal. If you have screw on terminals on the tv you will have to go to Home Depot or Lowes and get a matching transformer to go between the tv and the converter box. UHF antenna can be made out of a coat hanger. Just make a circle clean the paint off ends and attach. Or just buy a digital booster antenna at WalMart.

Require a TV converter box?

that doesn't have to do with digital signal, just quality, if your tv shows the channels as 4.1 or 4-1 : example... then it IS digital!
