Black Screen I have taken really good care of my camera and it has never been dropped. I went on a Cruise a few months ago and one day into the cruise the screen wouldn't show anything. It was just a black screen. When I took pictures they turned out black too. I am still able to navigate the menus and see pictures on my SD card. Even after returning to Colorado, a dry climate, the screen is always black and taking black pictures. Is there something I can do to fix this problem or should I just scrap the camera?

Do more internet searches of your model. Sounds like the sensor chip died. Pretty expensive part. Could have not liked the salty environment or you are just unlucky. Do the search until you give up as there is a lot of info on internet. Cameras are getting pretty cheap now so if it is a little old or cheaper model, you may do better with a forced "upgrade".

SOURCE: Screen

Get on to Nikon and let them know about it, it is a common problem with the S4. They are fixing the 3500 and others for free.

SOURCE: Nikon D70s - all photos turn out black

A lot can be happening. Try them one at a time. If the first does nothing, go to the next.

  1. Put the camera in the "auto" exposure mode. Be sure ISO is set at 100
  2. Try a different lens.
  3. Remove the battery for 10 minutes and reinstall.
  4. Go into your menu program and press the "reset all" button to go back to factory specs.
  5. Next change your memory card.
Let me know if we need to go further.

Stalls at low speed when in cruise control

You sould have recieved a "recall" notice in the mail about the cruise control for fire and failure issues. they are adding a fusable link where the cruise control harness connects to the brake master cylinder. if you have not had the recall performed yet you should SERIOUSLY consider getting it done, mainly so it doesnt catch fire, but "could" be the result of the failure you've been experiancing! btw, almost ALL Ford vehicles have been affected with the cruise control recall. hope this helps!

Cruise control switch works sporatically.

Faulty product. I install cruise control for 6 years. One of the cables are hooked into the throttle and the other in the vaccuum actuator, since it is electronically controlled actuator, the object itself might be losing it's contents or frankly worded, is taking a nose dive. works much like a brake booster does.

Is it a PID system? (Proportional integral derivative system)
or is it just standard proportional?

That will play a factor.

If you just have one of those cheesy controls (cruise controls), than replace it, obviously it wouldnt of cost much. if it is not, check the actuator and replace it! Replace the Fuse, brush it with wire brush, clean up all connections.
You should be ready to roll!

Good Luck.

2004 Chevy Cavalier Cruise Control Problem

here are two switches that are the usual causes of the cruise kicking out. they are both under the dash. One is the switch for the brake lamps (stop light switch). the other is for the clutch if you have a manual transmission.

if you follow the brake pedal up under the dash you'll find two switches at the top of the pedal. (it may be one switch but I think its two). the top one would be for the cruise control. if the switch is loose it will cause the cruise control to think you're stepping on the brake and that will disengage the cruise control

same with the clutch pedal if you have a manual transmission; if the switch is loose it will indicate you are pushing the clutch pedal in and cause the cruise to kick out

other than that you'll have to check all of the connectors. If it does engage then the fuses and actuators should be good and it would be a loose connector or switch that's kicking it out

also, i assume your speedometer works; if its not then that's your problem as the cruise won't engage under 30 mph
