I have a maytag neptune dryer. It dries clothes OK, but does not shut off. The dial just keeps going around!!! Once the door is open, the dryer does stay shutoff. Thanks, Dale

Your timer needs to be replaced. This is not a hard job, provided you can find the parts.

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have not taken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then you need to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should take place. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causes for your dryer to fail.

Maytag Neptune MDG 5500 AWQ heats sporatically

your dryer has a safety feature that it will not run or heat when the door is opened. It is so no gas fumes are exhauseted into your home. Once the safety is engaged, It will not allow the dryer to restart for a short while. It should clear itself after only a few minutes. Hope this helps, good luck.

Matag NeptuneDryer MD5500AWW - intermittent heat - not drying

this is joyce
It is as you guessed your sensor. it is usually located in door but some models are in back of machine on inside, go online download document papers go to maytag.com put in model# and then download your model # and it will show you where your sensor is located, it should be simple to replace. I had the same problem with my dryer.
I am glad you said you checked the dryer lines because if these get clogged up they will cause the dryer not to dry the clothes correctley. very smart....if you need me to help let me know.

thanks,

joyce

Maytag gas dryer runs, doesn't dry

Check in the hole where the screen goes for blockage. Many times debries falls in there when removing screen. It cant make it out of the vent so it builds up and clogs the vent.

Dryer not drying clothes

your dryer is a 220 plug check the circuit breaker first
one 110 runs the heating element and the other 110 runs motor and dials
this is usually the cause of dryer malfunctions
heating elements are simple big mesh of curled metal wire like a toaster but more of it
it would take alot to knock out the heating element
check the dials too these could be sticking or worn dials you dont have to run dryer to check dials
