Check you have put enough oil in to correct level , and that there are no leaks from oil drain plug.
Changing the oil every 4 weeks seems a bit excessive and you may have caused the sump oil plug to leak as a result ,this is from the Honda specs on this model . Oil alert™ This is a useful function that prevents damage to your engine by automatically shutting the unit down if oil drops below a safe operating level.

As far as pushing out less power check your generator bushes and rotor com they may be dirty, other than that it may just require a good service from a Honda dealer . Checking the spark plug for erosion or dirt may also help .

If it is a four stoke " no oil mix required " Oil out the exaust can only mean oil is getting past the rings, valve stem seals are worn " if seals should only smoke briefly after start and go away " or oil in the gas...first check for oil in the gas..Should show on the dip stick..if none or you can't detirmine change with new gas..the run for a while any oil residue will burn off and smoke clear..if still smoke..your rings on the piston are wearing out or your piston cylinders may have small scores " scratches " allowing the oil to pass by and into the combustion chamber..Also your spark plugs should be showing oil residue on the tips if oil is being burnt...Easy fix first..buy a can of restore or any good prouduct to help restore the cylinder walls..I use RESTORE BRAND a little expensive but worked very well for me..run a tank of gas through it to give it some time to seal the scratches on the cylinder walls and Pistons..if it works for you add a little with each oil add/or change....if this does not do it..sorry but a rebuild is needed.. and Good luck..

The pull cord is like a starter on a car (separate from the motor/engine). If the pull cord will not turn it could be because the motor/engine is seized.

I work on Goodmans and I vaguely remember something like this.Be sure the neutral (white wire) and the green ground are the same potential. They both tie into the ground bus at the generator.

I'd say your battery in the generator is going bad or bad. They are very small and do not hold a charge for very long. The noise you heard was probably the starter shaft hitting the flywheel cogs. I doubt any harm was done as long as you did not repeatedly try to start it with the key. Why Honda put a battery in these is because they are intended for use in a campground setting, where they would be used on a daily basis and the battery would constantly charged. Whereas people like us buy them for emergencies only, they sit for long periods, and the battery goes flat, and the fuel clogs the carb and we get the surging issue. That's my 2 cents. When I brought mine home new, I Sta-bil'd the heck out of the gasoline, this past winter, on start-up, the unit surges. Of course the battery was flat.
