I'VE GOT EXACTLY THE SAME SET UP WITH NO SOUND PROBLEMS.
HOWEVER I'VE JUST PURCHASED A PLASMA 42" SAMSUNG PS-42Q96HD AND CONNECTED IT TO A HT-X30 HOME THEATRE SYSTEM AND WHILST WATCHING DIGITAL TV THE SOUND PROBLEMS YOU DESCRIBE START. HAVE YOU RESOLVED THE PROBLEM OR DO I NEED TO TAKE IT BACK TO CURRY'S?

I just had the same problem. I returned it to currys and got an exchange because I thought there was somethink wrong with the surround sound itself. I have just tried , and left for ages as it goes out of sync gradually as you said ,the red/white cables (rca , i think it's called)and it works perfectely. You can find the wire for quite cheap just type it in google.

SOURCE: optical output on tv through dvd home cinema out of sync

Up front, i copied this from another site, so kudos to the OP there if this works for anyone...

Hi,
This same problem had been bugging me when I bought my LE37B650, everyone suggested adjusting the delay time on my AV amp but unfortunately mine does not have this function.

Anyway I finally fixed the problem using the following steps

Before you start make a note of your menu settings as you will have to reset them after this procedure

Turn off the TV then press Info -> Menu -> Mute in sequence then turn the TV back on again. This will get you into the secret Service Menu. Go straight to the AUDIO page of the menu. Don't be tempted to fiddle with things in service menu cos you can end up in a right old pickle!

In the AUDIO page you willl notice that there is a time delay set for the internal speakers of 100ms but for some reason this is not set for the external output so all you need do is dial in a 100ms delay there and that should sort the problem. Well it fixed it for me.

Note that as soon as you enter the service menu, all your other standard menu settings are lost and the screen will be set to dynamic for some reason so you have to go through and change everything back after you have done this.

Hope this Helps

This would suggest that you CAN fix the problem with an analog amp.

One of the way to connect the whole system is using only HDMI cable version 1.3a. There is audio return channel built into the cable. So you do not have to connect the optic cable.
Sky box to TV using HDMI
LG HT805 to TV using HDMI. Even the Sky box audio will come back to the LG-HT through the audio return path.

Hello,
There are two things that I can suggest.
1-Test your optical cables to make sure they a good on a known working source because they are very fragile and break very easily.
2-Try to eliminate the use of optical output from tv to receiver. There may be a problem from the HDMI to optical conversion at the tv. Instead, try running the audio directly from the source to the receiver, and let the tv deal with video input only.
Hope this helps,
Good Luck.

I am unable to connect my sky+ HD box, surround system and LCD tv together.I was only sold a scart cable and HDMI cable with the surround but am sure I need an audio cable or optical cable with it! please...

you need the fibre optical cable, that connects from your dvd to your tv and then you need to set the output on your dvd to digi in, that can be done by pressing aux on cinema system remote or function on the system it self.
i hope this does fix your problem, if it does please rate.

Connecting a Samsung HT-Z310 home cinema to a Series 5 Samsung TV and Games consoles, will only work with DVD currently. How do I get the cinema system to work for TV and consoles?

Do you have an Optical Audio cable going from the A/V receiver to the TV? If not, you need to get one. Since the HT-Z310 only has HDMI output and no input there is not audio bypass. Once you connect an Optical Audio cable from the receiver to the TV, anything that goes through the TV (cable audio, PS3 or Xbox 360, DVDs, Radio) will go through the receiver, too.
