The Volume is down or muted - Look at the system tray - righthand bottom - look for a speaker icon and click to see if muted or down.
Start>control panel> sound - see if anything is muted
Press the Windows key (bottom left of the keyboard} and at the same time press the R key, now in the search box that appears - type devmgmt.msc - look for sound devices, click on the + sign make sure a sound device is listed
