OK we got this tv 2 weeks ago off craigslist. It has a green ghosting and it seems VERY red!
No remote came with the tv so the adjusting is hard... but can do it. Please lead me in the right direction, as we can NOT get a new tv!!!
Sounds like the TV needs major convergence alignment and possibly a a full color scale adjustment. Projection TV's have the most alignment issues. Since I don't know manufacturer I can only give you general ideas. Most projection TV's have either auto or manual alignments which can be accesed through the menu. However the adjustments may be tricky to get to. Once convergence is done if video is still red you will need to get in the TV and set up biasing levels on each tube. Hopefully the tubes are just slightly degraded and can be readjusted for a nice quality image.
I suggest finding a local guy and asking him to possibly do a quick a;ignment for a fixed price.
Good luck

If the unit is out of adjustment, you will see a gray ghost on either side of the black square. Move the joystick to the right or to the left until the ghost disappears. The number values will change up or down.
If the ghost adjustment is off with a lower value, there will be a ghost to the left of the square.
If the ghost adjustment is off with a higher value, there will be a ghost to the right of the square.
Once you get the square to look good without ghosts, press "SELECT" to save any data values that have been changed.
Press the "EXIT" button three times to return to normal picture.
If you want to adjust focus and screen there is a focus block some sets they can be found on the front behind the gril then behind a cut out held in place by screws if not check from the rear. But a ghost like you say sounds like a convergence problem
Yes, it called ghost image. You can try to go in the service menu, and scroll to ghost image. Turn tv off, wait till red light stops blinking, and then on the remote press the input button. at the same time press the power button on the tv. this should put you in the service mode. If nervous about this call tech assist at Hittachi.
You will need to have or change the convergence correction driver IC's. There are two of them in this TV set. Not a fix for a novice I'm afraid. If you have no solid state repair experience, play it safe and call out a pro to assist you in this repair.
Ok that was my fear! LOL At least it is not "BUY A new one"
