Hi, I recently unplugged my monitor from my main machine (using the DVI) to use on another computer (using VGA). When I returned the monitor to my main computer and connected it using the DVI cable, the monitor was not receiving any signal. Now I can only get the monitor to work with the VGA cables. I have tried several DVI cables and they all do not work (even though they work with other monitors). Everything works fine with VGA cables on multiple computers and not at all with DVI cables on multiple computers. I figure that I must have messed something up with the DVI input on the monitor when I was plugging in the cables or something. Anyway, I was wondering if this is a fixable problem. Thanks!
Contacted viewsonic about this issue- they suggested- have both dvi and vga hooked up to same machine. start with poweroff on both. power on monitor, then power on computer. when you see display coming from the vga, power off pc, then disconnect vga cable, turn off power to monitor, disconnect power cord from monitor for 5 + seconds, reconnect power cord, power on monitor, then power on pc.
If this doesn't work to get the dvi working, (as happened to us) we returned our monitor for a replacement, since it was still under warranty.
Try to reinstall the display card driver . Reboot your system.
Buy a DVI to VGA connector or cable.

I have also exactly the same problem, I unplugged it once from DVI and plugged VGA in, and when I plugged DVI back it wasn't working in windows, but it gives the picture during POST and boot screen but after that finishes, only VGA works. My monitor is Samsung SyncMaster 731BF, and I have the latest ATI drivers.
Same problem but your fix will not work on mine anyone know of a hardware fix? No warranty here.
I need to know , does the setting First monitor (1) and Second (2) monitor or ext has been done ? If the setting is not been done yet... of course the screen would turn up to be the same.
Have a try.
TIA
